Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Shannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dane Grebisz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grebisz has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dane Grebisz! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shannon closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Shannon trying to control the action but Grebisz is working from the bottom. Shannon is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Grebisz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Shannon just content to control the position. Shannon working the ground and pound. Shannon lands an elbow. Grebisz takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Shannon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Grebisz, who protects the arm well. Grebisz wants to control but Shannon postures up. Grebisz looks gassed!
That's one minute gone in the round. Shannon working the ground and pound. Grebisz is looking for a sweep. Grebisz is not content to let Shannon control the position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shannon can do anything to dispel that myth. A lull in the action here. Grebisz is not content to let Shannon control the position. Shannon wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Grebisz, who protects the arm well. Shannon controlling from side mount.

Grebisz tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Shannon presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount! Shannon with a couple of short strikes. Shannon really is a fat lump. Shannon controlling the position easily from mount.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Christopher Shannon just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Grebisz is looking to clinch but Shannon is avoiding it.
Shannon shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Shannon showed some decent athleticism there. Shannon wants to free his trapped foot but Grebisz is holding on for dear life with his legs. Grebisz is staying active underneath Shannon, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shannon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Shannon working over Grebisz with some ground and pound. Grebisz looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Grebisz trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Shannon wants to control but Grebisz is keeping him busy. Shannon moves into full mount! Shannon has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Shannon controlling from mount. Shannon looking to finish Grebisz with some ground and pound. This is bad for Grebisz! Shannon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Shannon lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Grebisz hang on? Shannon with shots to the head and body - Grebisz looks very uncomfortable down there. Shannon landing shots from mount. Shannon controlling from the full mount. Grebisz is squirming around, avoiding Shannon's attempts to control the action. Shannon has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Grebisz's face.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Shannon raining down shots from the mount! Shannon controlling from mount. Shannon looking to control but Grebisz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shannon controlling from the full mount. Shannon scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Christopher Shannon dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Dane Grebisz's cut. That's time! Shannon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grebisz struggling a bit here. Grebisz is not content to let Shannon control the position. Shannon advances to full mount. Shannon moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Grebisz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Grebisz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shannon in side control, just content to control the action for now. Grebisz is not content to let Shannon control the position. Shannon is really struggling to control Grebisz but he's trying to hold on to the position. Shannon creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Shannon scores with punches from side control. Shannon working the head with strikes. Shannon controlling the position. Shannon trying to control the position but Grebisz is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Shannon is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Shannon is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shannon bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Shannon trying to control the position but Grebisz is working away. Grebisz takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Shannon trying to control the position but Grebisz is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grebisz takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Shannon trying to control the action but Grebisz is working from the bottom. Shannon takes a little break here. Grebisz wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shannon shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Christopher Shannon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Shannon is taking a breather. Grebisz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shannon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Grebisz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Shannon trying to pass the guard but Grebisz defending well. Shannon content to control rather than advance. Grebisz is looking to improve his position.
Shannon seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Shannon is tying to control. Grebisz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Shannon decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Dane Grebisz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Grebisz is not content to let Shannon control the position.
