Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Nikolai Selivanov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brian Jones! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones gets the takedown into side control. Jones swings around for an armbar but Selivanov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jones's guard. Selivanov has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Selivanov defends well. Selivanov tries to stand but Jones is controlling from the bottom. Selivanov working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Selivanov looking to pass the guard. Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jones is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Selivanov defends well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Selivanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Selivanov thows a big elbow that misses. Selivanov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Selivanov in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Selivanov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Selivanov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Selivanov looking to pass the guard. Selivanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Selivanov has his hands clasped together but Jones extends an breaks Selivanov's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jones.
