Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marco Belfort! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Akiyo Nishiura! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belfort moves into range and connects with a jab. Nishiura throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Belfort. Nishiura throws a head kick that half lands.
Nishiura tries a head kick but it misses.
Nishiura connects with a right hand. Belfort shakes it off. Nishiura moves into the clinch successfully.
Nishiura scores with a shot to the side of Belfort's head. Belfort trying to stall but Nishiura improves his position.
Belfort misses with a body punch.
Belfort tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nishiura just stands there and leans against the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Nishiura.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nishiura just misses with a elbow thrown towards Belfort's brow. Nishiura works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Nishiura. Come on Nishiura - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Nishiura looking to throw knees to the head but Belfort is blocking nicely.
Belfort wants to get back to striking at distance but Nishiura won't allow it.
Nishiura cracks Belfort with a nice body shot. Belfort fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Nishiura takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Nishiura lands a body punch in the clinch. Belfort can't break the clinch.
Nishiura pushes Belfort back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Nishiura lands an elbow that stopped Belfort in his tracks for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Come on Nishiura - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Nishiura works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Nishiura. Nishiura manages to break the clinch.
Some wild striking there from Belfort.
Belfort misses with an uppercut. Nishiura saw that one coming. Akiyo Nishiura seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Belfort moves out of range as Nishiura strikes. Nishiura throws a head kick that Belfort semi-blocks.
Nishiura connects with a high kick.
Belfort is rocked! Nishiura has closed the distance and engaged Belfort in a clinch.
Nishiura lands an uppercut. Oh Belfort is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Nishiura lands on the inside with an uppercut. Nishiura connects with a nasty looking knee right to Belfort's face.
Nishiura has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head that stumbles Belfort - he's in trouble! Another big knee to the head from Nishiura, and another! Belfort is out on his feet - the ref jumps in to save him and ends the fight!
