Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rocko Itleri!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcelo Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Garcia misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Itleri will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Garcia darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Itleri tries to kick Garcia off but Garcia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Garcia wants to take a breather but Itleri is having none of it.
Itleri is trying to stand.
Garcia missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Garcia seems to be looking for submissions.
Garcia tries to pass the half guard into mount. Itleri knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Garcia looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Itleri tries to kick Garcia off but Garcia keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Garcia moves into the clinch.

Itleri breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Garcia throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Garcia tries to score a power double leg takedown but Itleri sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Garcia somewhat.
Itleri fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Itleri tries to clinch but Garcia is having none of it.

and Garcia counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Itleri's guard now.

Garcia has gone for a leg lock! Itleri slips out almost immediately though and dives into Garcia's guard.

Garcia seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Itleri has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Garcia is pulling down on Itleri's head to control his posture.

Garcia has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Itleri can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Garcia is trying to keep Itleri in close.
Itleri wanted to stand there but Garcia had control of the position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Itleri throws a sloppy head kick and Garcia moves out of range easily.
Itleri lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Itleri.

Garcia closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Itleri tries to get to full guard but Garcia has control of the leg.
Itleri is working hard here to advance position.
Garcia is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Garcia looks to land a strike but Itleri avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Garcia stops Itleri from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Itleri keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully.
Garcia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Itleri swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Itleri lands with a kick to the ribs.
Rocko Itleri is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Itleri wants to clinch.
Garcia swats away the attempt to clinch by Itleri.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Itleri moves into the clinch.
Garcia struggles to land a body shot inside as Itleri controls his hands.
Itleri fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Itleri creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Garcia's defenses.

Itleri escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Itleri tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Garcia pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Itleri stuffs the takedown attempt from Garcia. Garcia gets slowly back to his feet.
Itleri swats away the attempt to clinch by Garcia.
Itleri throws a nice head kick!

Itleri defending well as Garcia loads up on a big left hand.
Itleri misses with a wild combination.
A right-left combo lands from Itleri.
Garcia throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Itleri's waist but Itleri gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Garcia off to one side.
Itleri lands with a hook. Garcia tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Garcia misses with a takedown attempt
and Itleri counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Rocko Itleri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcelo Garcia.
Garcia is trying hard to land a takedown here. Itleri sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Itleri is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Garcia's half guard.
Garcia has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Itleri is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Garcia drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Itleri is not content to let Garcia control the position.

Itleri pushes Garcia off and gets back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Itleri looks to land a combination. Garcia sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Garcia scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Garcia goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Itleri rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Garcia's guard! Nice work there by Itleri!
