PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between karl anderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and pete peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, karl anderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, pete peterson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
anderson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

anderson gets a clinch.

peterson manages to break the clinch.

anderson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows peterson to score an easy takedown into full guard.
peterson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
peterson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. anderson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
peterson wants to get up but he can't break anderson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
peterson wants to control from the top but anderson keeps moving.
peterson pushing down on anderson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

anderson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but peterson pulls his head out easily.
anderson wants to get back to his feet.
anderson is trying to maintain the position but peterson is very close to passing his half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. peterson connects with a nice short shot to anderson's temple.
anderson wants to get back to full guard.
It looks like peterson is going to stand back up.
anderson is trying to maintain the position but peterson is very close to passing his half guard.
peterson trying to mount his opponent but anderson defends it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

peterson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. anderson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
anderson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. peterson manages to get himself to full guard.
anderson stays in close to peterson's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
peterson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

anderson tries to free his leg and advance position but peterson is retaining full guard.
peterson pulls anderson in close to his closed guard and prevents anderson from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

anderson drops back looking for a leg! peterson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and peterson manages to kick anderson off! anderson jumps back into peterson's guard.

anderson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and anderson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

peterson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

anderson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that karl anderson will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


anderson closes the distance and clinches up with peterson, looking for a takedown. anderson pushes peterson against the cage but peterson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

anderson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells peterson's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
peterson works a leg free and moves into half guard.

peterson is pressing down on anderson's thigh, looking to free his foot. anderson is holding on for now.
The fighters are battling for position here. anderson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

peterson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as peterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
peterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but anderson paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and anderson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

anderson slips a nice elbow through peterson's hands, connecting with peterson's forehead.
anderson content to control rather than advance.
anderson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
anderson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
anderson wants to control but peterson is keeping him busy.

anderson seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

anderson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. peterson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time anderson.
peterson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

anderson gets to his feet - peterson follows without any prompting.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

anderson looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for peterson!

karl anderson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

anderson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. peterson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
peterson tries to lock up and control but anderson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
anderson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of peterson's face.

peterson takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

anderson misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
peterson is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but anderson has just dragged him back down to the mat.
peterson is not content to let anderson control the position.

anderson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no anderson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
peterson struggling a bit here.
What's peterson going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
peterson taking punishment in the form of punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
karl anderson showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for anderson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
