PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Tsoi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Nogeira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tsoi comes to the cage accompanied by Evol Intent - Brocken Sword. Nogeira comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Phineas and Ferb opening kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Rodrigo Nogeira enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Tsoi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rodrigo Nogeira!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Konstantin Menshow and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsoi fails in his attempt to clinch.
Nogeira dives in and grabs Tsoi's left leg, looking for a takedown. Tsoi pushes down on Nogeira's head and hops out.

and Tsoi counters with a single leg into guard. Nogeira didn't expect that.

Tsoi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tsoi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tsoi passes into half guard.
Nogeira won't allow Tsoi to pass to mount.

Tsoi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Nogeira sees it coming and defends easily.

Tsoi is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Nogeira to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.
Tsoi postures up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tsoi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nogeira swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Nogeira should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Tsoi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tsoi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Tsoi passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Nogeira wants to control but Tsoi postures up.

Nogeira sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Tsoi is thwarting Nogeira's attempts to control the position.

Tsoi is looking for a kimura but Nogeira is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Tsoi to get the leverage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Tsoi wants to work for an arm triangle but Nogeira is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Tsoi is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Nogeira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tsoi.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Nogeira stuffs the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

so Tsoi counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Tsoi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Nogeira is trying to control but can't.

Tsoi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nogeira is looking to control Tsoi's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nogeira avoid being mounted?

Nogeira moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tsoi wants to pass the guard but Nogeira is keeping the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Nogeira tries for a takedown but Tsoi circles away easily

and Tsoi counters with a takedown into side control.

Tsoi goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Nogeira rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Tsoi's guard! Nice work there by Nogeira!

Tsoi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Nogeira escapes and throws Tsoi's legs to the side, diving into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Tsoi dominated that second round.
That's time! Tsoi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Nogeira fails with the takedown

and Tsoi counters with a single leg into guard. Nogeira didn't expect that.

Tsoi is pushing down on Nogeira's leg trying to pass to half guard. Nogeira is fighting to maintain full guard but Tsoi has managed to sneak the leg through.

Tsoi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Nogeira!

Tsoi goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Nogeira turns into him and now he's in Tsoi's guard.
Nogeira wants to control from the top but Tsoi keeps moving.

Daniel Tsoi showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Tsoi has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
