Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Perrin Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Longfellow Deeds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Piggly Wiggly. The crowd seem to be enjoying Deeds's choice of entrance music: Evils Deeds. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Perrin Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Longfellow Deeds! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deeds drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jones manages to get back to half guard. Deeds is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.
Jones blocking the ground and pound attempt from Deeds. Jones keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Deeds is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Jones wants to control but Deeds is keeping busy.
Deeds thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head. Jones is looking for a sweep. Deeds is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Deeds has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Deeds.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deeds working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Jones's thigh. Jones counters though and makes it back to full guard. Deeds drops back looking for a leg! Jones is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Jones manages to kick Deeds off! Deeds jumps back into Jones's guard. Deeds postures up in Jones's guard and throws a big left but Jones blocks it. Deeds trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. A punch combination from Jones misses. Deeds gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Deeds is looking for a triangle but Jones pushes his legs off easily.

Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Deeds has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though. Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Deeds throws his legs up looking for a submission but Jones uses it to pass to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to take a break and control but Deeds is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones gets to mount! Deeds was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Deeds is trying to escape the mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Deeds is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jones controlling from the full mount. Deeds is trying desperately to improve position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jones controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Perrin Jones will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Deeds's shoulder, as Deeds tries to avoid the shot. Longfellow Deeds seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Deeds missing with a left hand there. Jones was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Jones's corner calls for a 1-2. Jones obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Deeds circles away quickly and effectively. Deeds with a poor takedown and Jones holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Come on Jones - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Deeds tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Deeds breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Deeds wants to clinch but Jones slips to the side and Jones counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Jones. Deeds gets through Jones's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Deeds has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Perrin Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Longfellow Deeds. Jones is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Jones lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Jones stalls. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Deeds as Jones tries to tie him up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deeds using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jones has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Perrin Jones. Deeds has his takedown stuffed and Deeds takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Jones fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Good agility. Deeds is breathing heavily. Jones would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jones is pushing down on Deeds's leg trying to pass to half guard. Deeds is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through. Still in half guard, Jones seems content to control.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jones in particular looking to stall. Deeds looking for submissions off his back. Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Deeds with the active half guard here but Jones passes nicely into side control. Jones controlling the position. Deeds looks to move to half guard but instead Jones has passed into mount! Damn! Deeds is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Perrin Jones dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
A jab from Deeds does it's job there. Deeds throws a combination that misses and Jones counters with a stiff right hand. Deeds walks into a jab. Jones dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Deeds misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Jones counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Deeds gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Jones counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Deeds thinking. Jones throws a right hand that Deeds ducks under and follows up with a left that Deeds also avoids with ease. Crunch! Jones slams his shin into Deeds's torso. This has been an exciting period of action! A thudding body kick lands there by Jones!
A left and a right from Jones both land. Nice combination. Jones connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. A punch lands to the side of Deeds 's head but he takes it in his stride. Jones scores with a jab. Deeds acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Deeds takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Jones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Deeds misses with a jab, cross combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Jones. Jones scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Deeds takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Deeds has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jones is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Deeds has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. A right hand to the body from Jones.

Deeds is working for takedown but Jones is calmly controlling the position for now. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Come on Jones - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Jones comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Jones's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Jones on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Jones's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Deeds lands an elbow. Deeds is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Deeds is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Jones isn't going anywhere.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jones tries to improve position but can't. Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Deeds can do to turn this around? Jones struggling a bit here. Deeds swings around for an armbar but Jones sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Deeds's guard. Deeds looking for subs off his back but Jones has passed one foot through into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Perrin Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
