Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Harry Hammer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jan Veavatne! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Veavatne throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hammer was covering up waiting for the punch and Veavatne finishes the takedown easily into guard. Veavatne trying to control the position from guard on top but Hammer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hammer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hammer tries to get out of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammer is looking to stand up but Veavatne isn't so interested in that idea. Veavatne looking to pass the guard. Veavatne has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hammer is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Veavatne stopping the sweep attempt from Hammer.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hammer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Veavatne moves away. Hammer throws a nice looking combination but Veavatne bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Hammer connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Hammer lands a nice shot to the body.
Veavatne has Hammer up against the ropes in a clinch.
Hammer wants to break free but Veavatne has control.
Hammer working hard to break the clinch. Hammer is trying to break the clinch but Veavatne is controlling him. Hammer tries to break the clinch but Veavatne is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Veavatne is trying to drag Hammer to the mat but Hammer just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Hammer manages to break the clinch.
Hammer jabbing away but nothing is landing. Hammer lands with a nice body punch. Horrible takedown by Veavatne or perhaps it was just good defense by Hammer which made him look bad. Veavatne looks gassed! Veavatne shoots in and drives through. Hammer sprawls well. Harry Hammer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Veavatne. Hammer smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Hammer scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Hammer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hammer lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Veavatne walks straight into a right hand from Hammer - that's dropped him! Hammer jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Veavatne from any more punishment! Veavatne complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
