PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Evan Flow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Weezy Washington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Washington has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Weezy Washington struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.6lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Weezy Washington!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flow tries to clinch but Washington moves out of range.
Flow fails with a takedown attempt.

Flow tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Washington paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Washington misses with a hook. Flow ducked under it nicely.
Flow throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Washington.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Flow uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Washington.

Flow closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Flow takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Flow's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Flow tries to stand and escape but Washington is controlling the position.

Flow is taking a breather. Washington says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Flow wants to pass the guard but Washington is defending well.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Washington tries to clinch but Flow moves out of range.

so Flow counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Flow is in close to Washington's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Flow stays in close to Washington's body and controls the position.

The fight stays on the outside here - Washington looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Flow slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Washington can do anything to dispel that myth.

Washington is staying active underneath Flow, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Flow, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
