4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Great Rider! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Emerson Jorge and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rider throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jackson pushes Rider up against the cage in a clinch. Rider missing with knees to the body.
Rider's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rider tries to score with a low kick but Jackson moves his leg out of the way. Jackson avoids the head kick by Rider.
Great Rider seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rider moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Jackson tries to clinch up. Jackson fails in his attempt to clinch. Rider tries to clinch but Jackson moves out of range. Jackson stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rider. Jackson has taken the fight to the clinch.

Jackson is trying to control the action in half guard but Rider is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Jackson passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Rider! Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Rider bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Jackson keeping moving, preventing Rider from controlling successfully.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Rider trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Rider trying to control but Jackson is working from the bottom. Rider pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jackson is keeping the position for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rider looking to sit in guard and control but Jackson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Rider is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Rider can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Jackson controls the pace. Rider working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Rider can't keep his opponent in guard - Jackson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson is looking for a kimura but Rider is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jackson to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson performing his best blanket impression for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rider tries to bum rush Jackson with a series of wild strikes but Jackson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Lance Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rider misses the jab. Jackson slips under a jab. Jackson closes the distance and pushes Rider back into the cage. A nice left hand lands by Jackson.

He's tossed Rider clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jackson tries to get the hooks in deep but Rider pushed the leg off. Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rider trying to control but not successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson has the hooks in. Rider is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted. What can Rider do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Jackson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Rider defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Rider is trying to break free.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Lance Jackson. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jackson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
