Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Bykov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kembo Lahar! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lahar throws a leg kick but Bykov sees it coming and checks it nicely. Lahar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kembo Lahar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lahar shoots in and drives through. Bykov sprawls well. Bykov fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Lahar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Bykov as he avoids it easily. Alexey Bykov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kembo Lahar. Lahar tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bykov swivels and escapes. No luck with that takedown attempt from Lahar. Bykov drives through with a takedown into guard. Lahar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bykov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Lahar tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bykov scoring with punches to the head and body. Bykov thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Bykov with a flurry of punches that miss. Lahar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Bykov throws a big right hand that misses. Lahar wants to get back to his feet but Bykov passes into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Bykov lands with a punch from half guard. Bykov throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Bykov thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lahar's head. Lahar tries to kick Bykov off in order to stand up. Bykov Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Bykov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
You can see the frustration on Lahar's face as Bykov controls the position. Lahar is looking for a sweep. Lahar is not content to let Bykov control the position. Bykov is trying to get an arm triangle but Lahar is defending well. Lahar is looking for a sweep.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lahar misses with a takedown attempt and Bykov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Lahar has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Bykov has passed into side control.
Bykov stands up and beckons Lahar to his feet. Bykov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Lahar is looking to control Bykov's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lahar avoid being mounted? Lahar is refusing to be controlled, as Bykov sits in half guard. Bykov seems to be working for a kimura but Lahar defends the submission attempt. Bykov throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Bykov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bykov prevents Lahar from improving his position. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Bykov wants to stand but Lahar has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Bykov is keen to just control but Lahar is a slippery customer.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A head kick by Lahar misses and Bykov counters with a stiff right hand. Lahar scores a takedown into full mount! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Lahar throwing strikes here but Bykov is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Bykov tries to lock up and control but Lahar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lahar misses with a takedown and Bykov counters with a shoot takedown. Lahar fights it but they end up in guard.

Lahar seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Lahar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
