Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Girardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vaclaw Dirmanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Girardi kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is This is the end by Anti Flag. Jesse Girardi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jesse Girardi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vaclaw Dirmanov! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Girardi feints and then cracks Dirmanov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Dirmanov down. Dirmanov looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Girardi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Girardi drives through and clinches with Dirmanov against the cage.
Girardi goes for a takedown attempt but Dirmanov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Girardi tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Dirmanov swivels and escapes. Dirmanov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Girardi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Girardi working for a submission but Dirmanov is keeping him at bay. Girardi fails to take his opponent's back. Girardi looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Girardi looking to control but Dirmanov is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Girardi takes Dirmanov's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Dirmanov is in trouble. Dirmanov is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A lull in the action here.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jesse Girardi just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Girardi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dirmanov as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Girardi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Girardi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Dirmanov shoots in but Girardi avoids the takedown attempt easily. Girardi has a takedown stuffed. Girardi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Girardi closes this distance looking for a takedown but Dirmanov circles away. No luck for Girardi with that takedown attempt. Girardi throws a series of punches but Dirmanov avoids them all with ease. Dirmanov throws a sloppy head kick and Girardi counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Girardi keeps the fight on the outside. Girardi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Girardi content to stall in guard here. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Dirmanov holds on and takes a little breather. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fight moves into the clinch position. Dirmanov looking to throw knees to the head but Girardi is blocking nicely.

Dirmanov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Girardi jumps guard but Dirmanov stands there with Girardi around his waist. Girardi gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Girardi is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Dirmanov is surviving well by controlling Girardi's body position as best he can. Girardi stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Girardi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Girardi looks to clinch and Dirmanov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Girardi won't be happy with that. Dirmanov lands a nice forearm strike. Girardi can't do much from the bottom here. The ground and pound from Dirmanov seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Dirmanov in side control, throwing shots but Girardi defends. Girardi takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Girardi looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Girardi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Girardi sitting in guard here, content to control. Girardi trying to control but Dirmanov is working from the bottom.

Dirmanov knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Girardi passes the guard and advances to mount! Girardi can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Dirmanov is looking to escape. Dirmanov tries to reverse the position but Girardi maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Girardi tries to control but Dirmanov wriggling away. Girardi looking to control and managing it successfully. Girardi wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Dirmanov is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jesse Girardi dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

That's going to sap some energy. Girardi is trying hard to land a takedown here. Dirmanov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Dirmanov stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Dirmanov wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Girardi. That's going to take a lot out of him. Girardi tries for a takedown but Dirmanov sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Girardi shoots in looking for a takedown. Dirmanov tries to sprawl out of it but Girardi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dirmanov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dirmanov lands with a nice body punch. Girardi shoots in for a takedown but Dirmanov shows good takedown defense. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jesse Girardi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Girardi dives in and grabs Dirmanov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dirmanov pushes down on Girardi's head and hops out. Dirmanov takes the fight into the clinch. Dirmanov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Girardi closes the distance looking to clinch and Dirmanov counters with a three punch combo that has Girardi backing up. Girardi nods at Dirmanov to acknowledge the strikes. Girardi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Girardi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Dirmanov makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Girardi really felt that one! Girardi tries for a takedown but Dirmanov circles away easily and Dirmanov counters with a nice double leg into guard. Girardi trying to keep a closed guard but Dirmanov is proving a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Girardi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dirmanov's guard. Dirmanov controlling the position. Girardi stays in close to Dirmanov's body and controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Girardi trying to control the position from guard on top but Dirmanov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Girardi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Girardi has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Girardi wants to control from the top but Dirmanov keeps moving. Girardi looking to sit in guard and control but Dirmanov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Dirmanov landing some decent shots from guard. Vaclaw Dirmanov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Girardi is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Jesse Girardi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Girardi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dirmanov manages to get himself to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Vaclaw Dirmanov comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Girardi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
