Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Raffoul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mike Hunt! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunt tries to bum rush Raffoul with a series of wild strikes but Raffoul uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Raffoul closes the distance and clinches. Hunt can't break the clinch.

Raffoul lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Raffoul working Hunt over with strikes. Well, if Raffoul is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Raffoul seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hunt for as long as he can get away with.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raffoul passes the guard and advances to mount! Raffoul controlling from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hunt tries to lock up and control but Raffoul gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Raffoul working Hunt over with strikes here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Raffoul controlling from mount.
The referee stands the fighters back up. David Raffoul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Raffoul closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Raffoul lands in his opponent's guard. Raffoul looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Raffoul's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Hunt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hunt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Raffoul. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Raffoul sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Raffoul has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Hunt controls Raffoul momentarily but Raffoul frees himself. Raffoul throwing strikes from guard but Hunt blocks nicely. Raffoul is stalling in the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Raffoul dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jab, jab by Raffoul - just one landing. Hunt throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Raffoul. Hunt throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hunt closes the distance looking to clinch so Raffoul counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Hunt wants to stand but Raffoul is controlling the position. Raffoul controls from within his opponent's guard. Hunt trying to keep a closed guard but Raffoul is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raffoul postures up in Hunt's guard and throws a big left but Hunt blocks it. Raffoul is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Raffoul throws a big right hand that misses. Raffoul is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee stands the fighters back up. David Raffoul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Hunt throws a right and a left that both miss. Raffoul shoots in and bounces Hunt off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Raffoul working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Raffoul stands and steps away. Hunt gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hunt tries a head kick but it misses.
Hunt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily so Raffoul counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Hunt is breathing heavily. Raffoul postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Raffoul seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Raffoul with a nice head shot there. Hunt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Raffoul is working Hunt over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hunt avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hunt being controlled here, momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Raffoul dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Raffoul scores a takedown into full mount! Raffoul lands with some strikes. Raffoul controlling the pace for now. Raffoul is landing with some decent strikes but Hunt is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
That's one minute gone in the round. Raffoul looking to control and managing it successfully. Hunt tries to hold on but Raffoul postures up. Raffoul throws some wild stikes that Hunt manages to avoid easily.
Raffoul throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Raffoul controlling the position easily from mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee stands the fighters back up. David Raffoul just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Raffoul looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Raffoul decides to stand up. Hunt works over Raffoul's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like David Raffoul has been cut. Hunt tries to clinch up and Raffoul counters with a takedown into side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here as Raffoul stalls from top position. Raffoul trying to control the action but Hunt is working from the bottom. Hunt is trying to control Raffoul's posture but Raffoul avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hunt prevents Raffoul from moving into mount. Hunt can't do much from the bottom here. David Raffoul overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. David Raffoul is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Hunt seems a little lost for a moment, as Raffoul dominates the positioning. Mike Hunt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Raffoul creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hunt sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that's the end of the fight! David Raffoul showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Raffoul, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
