Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nicholas Ghirardi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Nicholas Ghirardi was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Alves looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Alves scores with a takedown into Ghirardi's guard. Ghirardi is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. A knee to the head by Ghirardi.
Ghirardi breaks from the clinch.
Alves looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Ghirardi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ghirardi stands and throws Alves's legs to the side, diving into side control. Alves might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Check out the look on Ghirardi's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Alves is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Alves is breathing heavily. Ghirardi lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Alves down.
Alves gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Ghirardi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ghirardi is working for a guillotine from mount but Alves frees his head quite easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Alves takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Alves is in all sorts of trouble here.
Alves in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Alves tries to lock up and control but Ghirardi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Ghirardi punishing his opponent with strikes. Alves gets back to half guard. Alves is looking to improve his position.
Ghirardi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Alves. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ghirardi perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Alves is trying to control but Ghirardi passes into side control!
Alves is trying to improve his position. Ghirardi is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Alves regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alves is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Ghirardi stops Alves from getting back to his feet.
Ghirardi wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy. Alves trying to hold on to Ghirardi's head to control him but Ghirardi postures up.
Alves is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Ghirardi pulls his head out easily. Alves is trying to get back to full guard. Alves wants to control but Ghirardi is keeping busy.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Alves gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Ghirardi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ghirardi tries to stand but can't do so whilst Alves controls his leg. Ghirardi postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Alves to stand up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ghirardi lands with a slapping head kick. Ghirardi closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Ghirardi trying to control the action but Alves is working from the bottom. Alves is trying to get back to his feet. Ghirardi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Alves tries to improve position but can't. Ghirardi has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Alves looks to land a combination but Ghirardi avoids it well. Nicholas Ghirardi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alves looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Ghirardi is fending him off so far but Alves persists. Nope, Ghirardi circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kendall Alves. That's going to take a lot out of him. The fight stays on the outside here - Ghirardi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Alves decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Alves is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Ghirardi is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
