Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Evan Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greig Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davies comes to the cage accompanied by You'r Not Alone. Smith has chosen Duality as his entrance music. Evan Davies could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Greig Smith's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Smith takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Greig Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Davies.
Davies lands a really nice looking cross but Smith seems unphased.
Smith shoots in and bounces Davies off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Davies is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.
Smith working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Davies wants to get back to his feet but Smith is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Davies lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively.

Smith throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Smith is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Davies to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Davies shrugs it off.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Smith goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Davies turns into him and now he's in Smith's guard.

Smith had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Davies defends it easily.
Smith throws his legs up looking for a submission but Davies uses it to pass to side control.

Davies knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Davies wants to stand but Smith has his arm trapped.

Davies stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.

Smith fails in his attempt to clinch.
Davies will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Davies as he avoids it easily.
Davies ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Davies lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Davies fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Davies throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.

Smith looks to land a combination. Davies sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Davies lands with a cross.

and Smith counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Davies, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Davies against the cage but Davies circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A head kick misses from Davies.
Davies uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Smith, as that shot connected.
Smith shoots in but Davies avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Evan Davies has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Greig Smith.
Davies falls off balance throwing a combination
and Smith counters with a single leg into guard. Davies didn't expect that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith is pushing down on Davies's leg trying to pass to half guard. Davies is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through.
Davies is looking to escape.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Smith is looking for a kimura but Davies is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smith to get the leverage.

Greig Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smith tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davies sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Smith somewhat.
Smith doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Smith changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Davies looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Davies wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Davies is not content to let Smith control the position.
Smith is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Davies is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Smith tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Davies is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smith asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Greig Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Smith is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Davies will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Smith has hold of Davies's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Davies tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Smith cranks the arm and Davies screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Davies, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
