Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Vince Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, jaec caturan! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Glass and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! caturan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away. Jones fails in his attempt to clinch. caturan misses with a jab, cross combination.
caturan tries to clinch but fails miserably and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. caturan won't be happy with that. caturan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Jones. caturan is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control. caturan managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Jones.
Jones wants to control but caturan is keeping him busy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones working away. Jones working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's one minute gone in the round. An elbow from Jones crashes against the mat.
caturan pushes Jones away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jones gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
caturan with a lazy takedown attempt and Jones counters with a takedown into side control. Jones looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Sloppy strikes there by Jones. Jones in side control, throwing shots but caturan defends. Jones decides to stand back up. Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but caturan circles away quickly and effectively. caturan shoots and misses and Jones moves into the clinch. Vince Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jaec caturan. caturan looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. With the fighters clinched against the cage, caturan creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Jones wants to break the clinch but can't.
caturan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Jones prevents it.
Jones decides to pull guard. Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jones has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. caturan wants to get up but he can't break Jones's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is pulling down on caturan's head to control his posture. caturan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. caturan trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jones has his hands on caturan's head, controlling the position. Jones is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vince Jones dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Jones looks for the body kick but caturan saw that one coming. caturan closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but caturan avoids the damage to the body. caturan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
caturan scores with a sloppy right hand. Jones should have avoided that one. Jones misses with a combination
and caturan counters by clinching up. caturan breaks the clinch.
jaec caturan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. caturan is breathing heavily. Jones gets off balance looking for a body kick and caturan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. caturan is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jones pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but caturan avoids the damage to the body. Jones decides to pull guard. Jones looking for a guillotine here but caturan defends easily.
caturan wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard. Jones pushes caturan off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Vince Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Jones looks to clinch and caturan counters with a nice leg kick. Jones gets a clinch. caturan has Jones pressed against the cage, preventing Jones from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Jones can't break the clinch.
Jones has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A nice right hand lands inside from Jones. caturan tries to score a body lock takedown but Jones shows good agility there to stay on his feet. caturan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jones's efforts to push away. Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
caturan doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Jones lands a body punch in the clinch. Jones lands a body shot. Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. caturan tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones tightening his grip on caturan, looking for the choke. caturan trying to control but not successfully. Jones is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. caturan defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Jones punches the canvas rather than the man. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vince Jones dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
caturan circles away from the clinch attempt.
caturan tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for caturan! Jones sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! caturan holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jones tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Jones wants to control the pace but caturan is squirming around nicely. You get the feeling that caturan really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Jones is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, caturan has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. caturan is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones unloads with some shots from mount but caturan bucks and avoids them well.

That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. caturan is working to get back to half guard.
Jones thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. caturan is trying to escape the mount.
caturan wants to control but Jones is having none of it. Vince Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Jones trying to control but he's not successful this time. Jones throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
That's three minutes gone in the round. caturan keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jones thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Jones lands with some strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jones misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Jones throwing strikes here but caturan is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

caturan throwing hammer fists to the chest of Jones. What's that going to do exactly? caturan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if caturan can do anything to dispel that myth. Jones looking to finish with strikes here!
caturan tries to hold on but Jones postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jones thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Vince Jones showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
