Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Gordo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cesar Mesquita (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gordo comes to the cage accompanied by Zoom Zoom Zoom. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eddie Gordo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cesar Mesquita!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordo closes the distance and clinches up with Mesquita, looking for a takedown. Gordo pushes Mesquita against the cage but Mesquita circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Mesquita shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gordo wants to get back to his feet but Mesquita is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mesquita throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gordo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gordo has control of Mesquita's left arm, preventing Mesquita from doing any damage.
Mesquita drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mesquita jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mesquita is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gordo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gordo has escaped and now he's on top!

Gordo cracks Mesquita with a solid left hand.
Gordo throws a big right hand that misses.
Gordo in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Mesquita looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Gordo is defending well. Mesquita quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Gordo has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Mesquita celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Cesar Mesquita!
