Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Goncalvez Cavalioz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Silva! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Silva closes the distance and clinches. Silva looking to throw knees to the head but Cavalioz is blocking nicely.
Silva drags the fight down to the ground.
Cavalioz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cavalioz postures up.
Silva is controlling Cavalioz's posture. Cavalioz stopping the sweep attempt from Silva. Cavalioz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Silva is looking for a triangle but Cavalioz pushes his legs off easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva working a defensive guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Cavalioz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Silva as he avoids it easily. Cavalioz is breathing heavily. Cavalioz tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Silva swivels and escapes. Silva lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cavalioz's sensitive parts. Goncalvez Cavalioz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Silva darts in and clinches Cavalioz up against the cage. Silva drags the fight down to the ground.

Cavalioz drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Cavalioz off! Cavalioz jumps back into Silva's guard. Cavalioz postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Cavalioz, into his guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Silva trying to control but Cavalioz is working from the bottom. Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cavalioz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Silva wants to control from the top but Cavalioz keeps moving. Cavalioz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well. Silva with a nice head shot there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Silva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Cavalioz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Silva defends well. Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Silva working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Cavalioz's head. Cavalioz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Silva defends it easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Cavalioz looking for subs off his back but Silva has passed one foot through into half guard.
Silva takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Cavalioz is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Cavalioz is squirming around, avoiding Silva's attempts to control the action. Cavalioz really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex Silva dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Silva feints and as Cavalioz raises his hands in defense, Silva changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Silva trying to control but Cavalioz is working from the bottom. Cavalioz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Silva is looking to stand up but Cavalioz won't let him. Silva wants to control from the top but Cavalioz keeps moving. Silva stands and steps away. Cavalioz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Cavalioz has his takedown stuffed and Silva moves into the clinch. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. A left hand lands to the body for Silva.
Silva works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cavalioz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Silva is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Cavalioz looking for a triangle here. Silva is fighting it but it looks tight! Cavalioz pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Silva is tapping out - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Goncalvez Cavalioz!
