Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shinjo Tepanake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koji Kenjahara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kenjahara has chosen Roll wit Uz by Thai as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koji Kenjahara!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Taro Takaoka and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tepanake tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Tepanake misses with a low kick.
Shinjo Tepanake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tepanake fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kenjahara sprawls well initially but Tepanake persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kenjahara looking for submissions off his back.
Kenjahara tries to get to full guard but Tepanake has control of the leg.

Tepanake is working for a submission of some sort.

Tepanake wants to work for an arm triangle but Kenjahara is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kenjahara moves into full guard.
Tepanake throws a big right hand that misses.

Kenjahara looking for a guillotine here but Tepanake defends easily.
Tepanake postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Kenjahara is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Tepanake is working Kenjahara over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Tepanake drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Tepanake jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kenjahara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kenjahara looks gassed!

Kenjahara working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Tepanake doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Tepanake manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Tepanake pushes down on Kenjahara's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Kenjahara is looking to improve his position.
Tepanake seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Kenjahara manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Kenjahara has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Tepanake can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tepanake throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kenjahara works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Kenjahara looking to hit a scissor sweep but Tepanake is one step ahead there.

Tepanake postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kenjahara is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tepanake, into his guard.

Kenjahara thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kenjahara sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tepanake's guard.
Tepanake moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Tepanake is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Tepanake prevents Kenjahara from improving his position.

Kenjahara manages to get to full guard.
Tepanake pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kenjahara is keeping the position for now.

Kenjahara has his foot on Tepanake's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tepanake works his way back into a safe position though.
Tepanake connects with a couple of short punches.
Tepanake keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kenjahara's head.
Tepanake has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kenjahara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Tepanake passes Kenjahara's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Kenjahara is looking for a triangle but Tepanake pushes his legs off easily.
Tepanake passes Kenjahara's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kenjahara is looking for a sweep. Tepanake is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kenjahara avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tepanake.
Tepanake passes into side control, despite Kenjahara's attempt to control the position.
Tepanake tries to advance to mount but can't.
Kenjahara manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Tepanake landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Kenjahara wants to improve his position but Tepanake is controlling well.
Kenjahara is in trouble now - Tepanake has advanced to mount!
Kenjahara is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kenjahara manages to regain half guard. Good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Koji Kenjahara will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Tepanake moves in looking to clinch but Kenjahara pushes him off.

Tepanake gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tepanake throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kenjahara blocks it with crossed arms.
Tepanake is trying to stall.
Tepanake landing knees to the head.
Kenjahara goes for a takedown attempt but Tepanake pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kenjahara gets the takedown into side control.

Kenjahara in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Tepanake is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Koji Kenjahara! Koji Kenjahara retains his bantamweight title!
