Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samir Kahric! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jones Sanders! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kahric will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones Sanders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kahric tries to clinch but Sanders is having none of it. Sanders comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Kahric gets cracked there but stands up to it.
It looks like Samir Kahric has been cut. Sanders misses with a straight left. Sanders throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sanders misses with an uppercut. Kahric fails in his attempt to clinch. Kahric takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sanders scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kahric is rocked! Sanders postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kahric to stand up. Sanders moves in looking to clinch but Kahric pushes him off. Sanders rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kahric moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sanders misses the jab. Sanders moves out of range of the body kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kahric tries to clinch but Sanders moves out of range. Kahric fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Sanders misses with a takedown attempt and Kahric decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sanders's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kahric would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Kahric gets to his feet - Sanders follows without any prompting. Kahric is breathing heavily. Sanders has Kahric up against the cage in a clinch.
Kahric is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sanders gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Samir Kahric. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kahric has picked Sanders up - he's going for a ride! Kahric dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Kahric is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sanders defends it well. Kahric is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Sanders works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sanders pushes a forearm under Kahric's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Kahric is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
