Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Penn uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
Penn misses with a head kick.
Smith scores with a three punch combo!
Penn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Penn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Penn takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Penn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground.
Smith looks like he's trying to stand up.
Penn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
