Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pete Ruent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Telefono Werselr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pete Ruent! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Telefono Werselr! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Werselr looks to score with a jab to the body but Ruent is just out of range. Ruent with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Werselr to score with a decent uppercut. Werselr fails to land with a series of punches.
Ruent displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Werselr throws out the jab. Werselr looks to land a right hand but Ruent moved out of range. Werselr lands a jab to the head.
Ruent scoring well with a low kick there.
Werselr thuds a left hand into Ruent's body. Ruent shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Werselr napping and manages to drive through into side control! Werselr is pushing Ruent's head away, looking to escape. Ruent manages to hold on to the position though. Ruent passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Werselr! Ruent in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruent lands a heavy elbow. Ruent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Werselr looks gassed! Ruent controlling from mount. Ruent wants to control the pace but Werselr is squirming around nicely. Ruent with shots to the head and body - Werselr looks very uncomfortable down there. A nice elbow there by Ruent. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Werselr can do anything to dispel that myth. Werselr tries to buck Ruent off but he can't manage it. Ruent controlling from the full mount. Werselr wants to try and get back to his feet. Werselr really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ruent. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Werselr is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Ruent cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruent tries to control but Werselr wriggling away. Ruent postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Werselr looks a forlorn figure.

Ruent takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ruent wants to control the pace but Werselr is squirming around nicely. Ruent lands a big shot there that rocks Werselr but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Werselr is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ruent takes a little breather and maintains the position. Ruent connects with a body shot. Werselr throws a right and a left that both miss. Ruent thumps Werselr with a low kick. Ruent misses with a wild combination.
Ruent tries to close the distance and clinch up but Werselr swats him away and circles back towards the center. Pete Ruent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ruent shoots in but Werselr avoids the takedown attempt easily. Werselr throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ruent counters with a left and a right that stings Werselr. Ruent fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Werselr throws a body punch but Ruent moves out of range. Werselr misses with a double jab
and Ruent counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Werselr is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruent tries to clinch up but Werselr circles away and keeps his distance. Ruent gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Ruent lands a nice shot to the body. Ruent has Werselr pushed against the cage. Ruent lands on the inside with an uppercut. Werselr wants to get back to striking at distance but Ruent won't allow it.

Werselr on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Ruent lands a right hand that snaps the head of Werselr backwards. Ruent lands with a short punch from the clinch.

A short right hand to the side of the head by Ruent. Ruent lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Ruent digs a right hand into Werselr's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Werselr's gas tank. Nice body punch from Ruent - that landed with a thud.
Come on Ruent - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Werselr has had enough of the clinch but Ruent keeps him there for the moment. Ruent lands a right hand. Ruent lands a body shot. Ruent throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Ruent lands a body punch in the clinch. Ruent is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Werselr can do to turn this around? The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ruent is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Werselr can't fight it off and eventually Ruent manages to take the fight to the floor. Werselr looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruent sitting in guard, not really doing much. Ruent wants to control from the top but Werselr keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruent thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ruent wants to control from the top but Werselr keeps moving. Werselr wants to stand but Ruent is controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Left hook, right uppercut from Werselr. Werselr misses with an uppercut. Ruent misses with a combination
and Werselr counters with a lovely shot to the body. Werselr throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ruent counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Werselr's guard now. Ruent advances to half guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Nice strikes from Ruent there. Ruent not doing much here.

Pete Ruent dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Ruent doesn't manage to clinch there - Werselr circles away.
Werselr throws a predictable looking body shot
and Ruent counters with a low kick, right behind Werselr 's knee. Ruent shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Werselr pinned against the cage. Werselr gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Werselr swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Werselr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruent just misses with a punch to the body.
Werselr on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Ruent. Ruent obviously looking to wear him down.
Werselr tries to bum rush Ruent with a series of wild strikes but Ruent uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruent moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Ruent gets a clinch. Werselr wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ruent has him pressed against the cage. Werselr can't break the clinch.
Ruent content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Ruent is working Werselr over against the cage. Ruent lands a left hand that snaps the head of Werselr backwards. Werselr is looking to break free of the clinch but Ruent has double underhooks. Ruent lands a shoulder strike. Ruent lands a nice shot to the body. Ruent will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Werselr up against the cage. Ruent is working Werselr over against the cage. Ruent lands with a light punch inside. Ruent lands a shot to the body. A short right from Ruent on the inside. Ruent stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Ruent lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Ruent lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Ruent lands with a short shot to the head. Telefono Werselr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruent pushes Werselr back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. A right handed body shot lands from Ruent.

Ruent lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Werselr or not. Ruent stalling against the cage.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Ruent for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure. Werselr wants to break the clinch but can't.
Werselr is trying to break free. Ruent lands a nice shot to the body. Ruent tightens his grip and picks Werselr up, before dumping him to the ground. Werselr manages to land in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Ruent chips away with some ground and pound. Ruent postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ruent passes Werselr's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ruent is controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruent seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Werselr for as long as he can get away with. Ruent looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Werselr looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Pete Ruent is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Still in half guard, Ruent seems content to control. Ruent frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ruent sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
And that's the end of the fight! Pete Ruent showed his dominance in that final round. Well Ruent has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
