Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shane Carwin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vernon Reed! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reed slips a jab and a cross from Carwin.
A punch combination from Carwin misses. Carwin misses with a wild body shot. Good standup being displayed there by Carwin as he connects with a hook. Carwin throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Reed ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Carwin misses with a jab, cross combination.

and Reed counters with a two punch combo. Reed lands with a shot to the body. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Reed fails to land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round. Nice shot by Reed. Carwin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Reed misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

It looks like Shane Carwin has been cut. Reed scores with a punch to the head.
Carwin is rocked! Carwin dodges the punch combination from Reed.
Carwin swings for the body but Reed moves out of range.
Carwin looks to throw the jab but Reed is out of range. Reed misses with a double jab
and Carwin counters with a stiff right hand. Carwin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reed stuns Carwin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carwin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Shane Carwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A jab lands there for Reed. Reed lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Reed uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Carwin has time to react. Oh Carwin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Reed fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carwin seems to have got his legs back now. Carwin misses with a double jab
and Reed counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Shane Carwin's cut is getting worse. Reed misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Reed uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carwin. Reed rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carwin moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Reed tests Carwin's chin there with a solid looking shot. Reed lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Carwin circles away quickly and effectively.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reed closes the distance and lands a one-two. Good standup being displayed there by Reed as he connects with a hook. Reed misses with a double jab.
Carwin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Carwin dodges the punch combination from Reed.
Carwin misses with a straight left. Reed misses with a double jab.
Reed jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Carwin throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Carwin loads up on a big right hand but Reed slips the punch. Reed lands with an uppercut that bounces Carwin off the cage and back into rage.
Shane Carwin's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Reed is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Carwin had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Carwin looks to land a left hand but Reed moved out of range nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Reed misses with a wild combination.
Reed cracks a nice hook into Carwin's ribs. Reed lands the left hand. This has been an exciting period of action! A combination from Reed does no damage. Carwin misses with a combination
and Reed counters with a left and a right that stings Carwin. Reed throws a combination that misses and Carwin counters with a one-two to the body. Reed will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Reed ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Carwin could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Carwin slips a jab and a cross from Reed.
Reed misses with a few strikes there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vernon Reed dominated that round. The cut man is working on Shane Carwin's cut. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Reed swinging wildly here.
Reed stalks Carwin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Carwin's face. Carwin staggers backwards, shaken. Nice straight punches there by Reed. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Reed. Carwin misses with a straight left. Carwin throws a left and a right that both miss
and Reed counters with a nice uppercut.
Jeez, Shane Carwin's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Shane Carwin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A slow jab from Carwin misses its intended target. Vernon Reed seems to be getting the better of the standup. Carwin throws a big shot that misses. Reed misses with a double jab
and Carwin counters with a nice uppercut. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Reed. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Carwin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reed manages to avoid it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Danga de danga de dang - Reed scores with a four punch combination! Reed tests Carwin's chin there with a solid looking shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carwin throws a lazy right hand but Reed sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Carwin uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Reed. Reed connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Carwin momentarily.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Shane Carwin's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Vernon Reed!
