Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rarpo Gracie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ron Vreeland! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gracie missing with a left hand there. Vreeland was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Gracie shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Vreeland napping and manages to drive through into side control! Gracie lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Vreeland down.
Vreeland manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Vreeland is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gracie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The fighters are battling for position here. Vreeland manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Gracie passes Vreeland's left leg - he's now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vreeland wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.
Gracie seems to be working for a kimura but Vreeland defends the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vreeland looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vreeland is trying to get back to full guard. Gracie is looking for a kimura but Vreeland is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Gracie to get the leverage. Gracie is working for a kimura but Vreeland is defending it quite comfortably.
Vreeland wants to improve his position but Gracie is controlling well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Vreeland misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Gracie.
Gracie throws a sloppy body shot
and Vreeland makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Vreeland scores with a crisp jab that stopped Gracie in his tracks. Vreeland digs a good hook to Gracie's body.
Vreeland lands a nice shot that snaps Gracie's head back.
Gracie throws a head kick that misses. Vreeland lunges at Gracie with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gracie's hand. Gracie is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vreeland. Gracie takes one to the chin there. The fighters circling - Gracie throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Vreeland swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Vreeland shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Gracie manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Vreeland is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gracie is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vreeland decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Vreeland is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gracie's half guard. Vreeland trying to mount his opponent but Gracie defends it. Vreeland misses with a head shot. Gracie uses the momentum to regain guard. Vreeland looking to pass the guard. Gracie manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gracie cracks Vreeland with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Vreeland is looking to improve his position but Gracie isn't that keen on the idea. Gracie putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
It looks like Ron Vreeland has been cut. Gracie throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Vreeland because Gracie loaded up on that one. Vreeland is wriggling around trying to escape.
Vreeland looks gassed! Gracie trying to control but he's not successful this time. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gracie looking to secure an arm triangle but Vreeland defends it well. Gracie thowing shots but they're missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rarpo Gracie dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ron Vreeland's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Vreeland scores with a decent looking hook. Gracie is looking to clinch. Vreeland missing with a left hand there. Gracie was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Vreeland with a lazy takedown attempt and Gracie counters with a single leg into guard. Vreeland didn't expect that. Gracie with a flurry of punches that miss. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gracie's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Gracie passes Vreeland's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Gracie is working for a kimura but Vreeland is defending it quite comfortably.
Vreeland is pressing down on Gracie's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Gracie passes easily into side control. Nice work. Gracie is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Vreeland is trying to escape and Gracie transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Vreeland is forced to tap! Nice work there by Gracie! Very nice indeed!
