Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Powers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Wilder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Powers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Max Wilder! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Wilder. Powers manages to get back to half guard. Powers tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Powers wants to get back to full guard. Wilder is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Powers reverses the position - he's now on top in Wilder's guard. Powers trying to control the position from guard on top but Wilder is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wilder looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Wilder has momentary wrist control but Powers slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wilder utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Powers's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Powers is looking to work some ground and pound but Wilder has wrist control. Wilder looking for a sweep. Not yet Wilder, not yet. Wilder working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Powers. Powers is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wilder is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wilder has escaped and now he's on top! Powers wants to sweep here but Wilder controlling him for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Wilder looking to pass the guard. Powers is looking to stand up but Wilder isn't so interested in that idea. Wilder trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Powers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wilder is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Powers is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wilder is aware though and is defending well. Powers is breathing heavily. Wilder chips away with some ground and pound. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wilder accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Wilder thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Wilder wants to pass the guard but Powers is keeping the position. Wilder stands and throws Powers's legs to the side, diving into side control. Wilder postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Powers takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Wilder thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The ground and pound from Wilder seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Powers manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wilder's best efforts. Wilder thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Wilder thows a huge punch but Powers dodges it nicely.
Wilder throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Powers blocking the ground and pound attempt from Wilder. Wilder throwing shots but Powers is blocking nicely. Powers wants to get back to his feet.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Powers doesn't succeed with the takedown and Wilder counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Wilder. Wilder scores with a hook to the body. Powers looking for a takedown. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Wilder dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wilder closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Powers misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Powers moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Wilder landing some decent shots from guard. Powers looking for a guillotine here but Wilder defends easily.
Wilder drops back looking for a leg! Powers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Powers manages to kick Wilder off! Wilder jumps back into Powers's guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Powers tries to strike from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wilder accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Powers is looking for a triangle but Wilder pushes his legs off easily.
Wilder passes Powers's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wilder throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Powers tries to get to full guard but Wilder has control of the leg. Wilder moves into full mount! Powers won't be happy about that!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Wilder working for a submission but Powers is keeping him at bay. Wilder with shots to the head and body - Powers looks very uncomfortable down there. Wilder blocks Powers's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Powers takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Powers tries to improve his position but instead Wilder has taken his back! Powers is really stuck here.
Wilder working for a choke but Powers is defending well. Wilder punishes Powers with strikes from the back mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Powers tries to escape but Wilder has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Powers trying to get back to his feet but Wilder is in full control for now. Wilder controlling well, preventing Powers from escaping the position.
Powers is working hard here to advance position. Wilder is working hard for the rear naked choke here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Powers fending off the submission attempt from Wilder. Wilder misses with an elbow to the head. Powers is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Powers wants to get back to his feet. Powers defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Wilder's arms. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Wilder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Wilder lands a nice shot to the head. Powers is squirming around, avoiding Wilder's attempts to control the action. BOOM! Wilder connects with a massive shot to the dome!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Powers keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wilder controlling from the full mount. Powers tries to improve his position but instead Wilder has taken his back! Wilder struggling to keep hold of the position.
Well, with Wilder on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Powers is tapping out... Can he escape the position? A bit of a pause in the action here. Wilder controlling the positon.
And that's the end of the fight! Max Wilder comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Wilder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
