Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Robert Pattison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gintaras Javainis! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Pattison. No joy for Javainis on that attempt. Javainis tries to clinch up but Pattison circles away and keeps his distance. Pattison tries for a takedown but Javainis circles away easily and Javainis counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Javainis. A short right from Javainis on the inside. Pattison is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Javainis gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Javainis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Javainis fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Pattison is out of range. Javainis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Javainis missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Javainis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pattison keeps working. Pattison controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Pattison trying to hold on to Javainis's head to control him but Javainis postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Javainis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pattison is concentrating on defense, preventing Javainis from advancing position. Pattison avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Javainis. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Pattison shoots in for a double leg but Javainis sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Robert Pattison. That's going to take a lot out of him. Javainis tries for a takedown but Pattison circles away easily and Pattison counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Javainis can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pattison seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Javainis tries to kick Pattison off but Pattison keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Javainis is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pattison is taking a breather. Javainis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Pattison seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Javainis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pattison is thwarting Javainis's attempts to control the position. Pattison prevents Javainis from improving his position. Pattison trying to mount his opponent but Javainis defends it. Pattison is breathing heavily.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pattison circles away from the clinch attempt and Pattison counters with a nice double leg into side control. Javainis won't be happy with that.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pattison in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Javainis is trying to improve his position. Javainis manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pattison's best efforts. Pattison stalling. Javainis is trying to stand.

Robert Pattison dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Pattison shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Javainis napping and manages to drive through into side control! Javainis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pattison. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pattison is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Javainis knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Javainis wants to control but Pattison postures up. Javainis tries to bench press Pattison off him but Pattison keeps the position. Pattison working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pattison stands up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Javainis stuffs the takedown. Javainis shoots in for a takedown but Pattison shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Pattison misses with a series of wild punches.

Robert Pattison dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Javainis throws a sloppy head kick and Pattison moves out of range easily. Javainis closes the distance looking to clinch and Pattison counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Javainis clinches but Pattison breaks the clinch and Pattison counters with a shoot takedown. Javainis fights it but they end up in guard. Pattison gets to his feet. Javainis looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Javainis shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pattison counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Javainis! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pattison raining down shots from the mount! Pattison takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pattison manages to capitalize on a mistake by Javainis to take his back! So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Pattison is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Javainis won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Pattison off his unconscious opponent!
