The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soto throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around The Prince of Jiu Jitsu's waist but The Prince of Jiu Jitsu gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Soto off to one side. Soto moves in looking to clinch but The Prince of Jiu Jitsu pushes him off. A telegraphed right hand from The Prince of Jiu Jitsu misses the target. Nice shot by The Prince of Jiu Jitsu. Soto shoots in but The Prince of Jiu Jitsu avoids the takedown attempt easily. The Prince of Jiu Jitsu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Soto napping and manages to drive through into side control! The Prince of Jiu Jitsu wants to lay and pray for a moment but Soto keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. You can see the frustration on Soto's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Soto is looking to regain half guard here but The Prince of Jiu Jitsu keeps moving and retains side control. The Prince of Jiu Jitsu is chipping away with strikes.
Soto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Prince of Jiu Jitsu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
