Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Howland Reed! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barry Bronson! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bronson fails in his attempt to clinch. Bronson shoots in but Reed avoids the takedown attempt easily. Bronson tried to score with a low kick but Reed checks it. Reed lands a right hook to the body.
Reed lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Bronson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Bronson shoots for a double leg takedown but Reed sprawls well. He's pushed Bronson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Reed scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. A jab from Reed finds it's way through Bronson's defenses. Reed lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Bronson looks for a takedown but Reed sprawls well. Howland Reed has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Bronson. Reed lands a glancing blow to the side of Bronson's head. Reed digs a good hook to Bronson's body.
Bronson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Bronson shoots in but no luck this time. Reed throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Reed lands a jab to the nose.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bronson misses with a takedown attempt - Reed sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Bronson looks gassed! Bronson misses with a double jab.
Bronson walks straight into a right hand from Reed - that's dropped him! Reed jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Bronson from any more punishment! Bronson complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Howland Reed!
