Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Zane Trusdale (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Hopewell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian Hopewell will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Zane Trusdale! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Brian Hopewell! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hopewell lands the left hand. Hopewell drives through and clinches with Trusdale against the cage.
Hopewell tries for a takedown. No joy.
Hopewell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Hopewell throws a right hand that Trusdale ducks under and follows up with a left that Trusdale also avoids with ease. Trusdale fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Hopewell gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Trusdale to score an easy takedown into full guard. Hopewell trying to control the position.
Trusdale trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Trusdale prevents Hopewell from getting back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hopewell wants to sweep here but Trusdale controlling him for the moment. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Trusdale looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Trusdale closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Trusdale working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Hopewell is trying to improve his position. Trusdale working away. Hopewell might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Trusdale kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Hopewell is looking for a sweep. Trusdale lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hopewell down.

Trusdale is breathing heavily. Trusdale shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zane Trusdale. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hopewell moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Hopewell tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Hopewell closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hopewell lands in his opponent's guard. Hopewell has gone for a leg lock! Trusdale slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hopewell's guard. Trusdale stopping the sweep attempt from Hopewell.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hopewell has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Trusdale off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Horrible takedown by Trusdale or perhaps it was just good defense by Hopewell which made him look bad. Hopewell rushes Trusdale and presses him up against the cage. Trusdale tries to break the clinch but Hopewell is controlling the position. Hopewell jumps guard but Trusdale stands there with Hopewell around his waist. Hopewell gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hopewell is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Trusdale to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Trusdale shrugs it off.

Trusdale will be more careful next time no doubt. Hopewell scores with a one two! Trusdale had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Danga de danga de dang - Hopewell scores with a four punch combination! Hopewell closes the distance and lands a one-two. Hopewell tries to clinch but Trusdale moves out of range. Hopewell gets in close and instigates a clinch. Hopewell jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Trusdale walks away with a smile on his face. Hopewell gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. The fight stays on the outside here - Hopewell looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hopewell tries to clinch but Trusdale moves out of range. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hopewell seems to be working for a kimura but Trusdale defends the submission attempt. Trusdale is refusing to be controlled, as Hopewell sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Hopewell works over Trusdale's head and body with a nice combination. Hopewell tries to clinch up. A nice combination there by Hopewell.

Brian Hopewell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!
Trusdale takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Hopewell fails in his attempt to clinch. Trusdale dives in and grabs Hopewell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hopewell pushes down on Trusdale's head and hops out. Hopewell moves in looking to clinch but Trusdale pushes him off. Hopewell fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Hopewell clinches with his opponent.

A battle for position here, against the cage. Trusdale tries to break the clinch but Hopewell is controlling the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Trusdale misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Hopewell.

Hopewell is looking for a kimura but Trusdale is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hopewell to get the leverage. Hopewell wants to control but Trusdale is keeping him busy. Trusdale blocking the ground and pound attempt from Hopewell. Brian Hopewell is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hopewell tries to stand and escape but Trusdale is controlling the position. Trusdale looks like he's trying to stand up.
Hopewell is trying to control the action in half guard but Trusdale is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hopewell with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hopewell wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Hopewell darts in and clinches Trusdale up against the cage. Hopewell scores with an uppercut up the middle. Trusdale prevents Hopewell from breaking the clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hopewell wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Trusdale tries to break the clinch but Hopewell is controlling the position. Hopewell drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Trusdale gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hopewell keeps control of Trusdale as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
And that's the end of the fight! Brian Hopewell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Hopewell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
