Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Astro Boy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jongwoo Park! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Park throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Boy dives in and grabs Park's left leg, looking for a takedown. Park pushes down on Boy's head and hops out. Boy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Park throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land. You can see the frustration on Park's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Park is looking to regain half guard here but Boy keeps moving and retains side control. Boy lands an elbow. Park is trying to improve his position. Boy working the head and body with strikes. Park sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Park blocking the ground and pound attempt from Boy. Park wants to control but Boy is keeping busy.
Park is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Boy is staying active. Boy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Park has hold of Boy's hands but Boy slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Boy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Boy lands a couple of digs. Boy postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Park looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

But Boy has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Boy! Park has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Boy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Park looks gassed! Boy chips away with some ground and pound. Boy postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Boy scoring with punches to the head and body. Boy works over Park with some ground and pound from guard. Boy postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Park is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Park escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Boy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Park is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Boy is working Park over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Park preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Boy stands up from guard. Let's bang! Boy gets the takedown into side control. Park takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Park tries to improve position but can't. Boy scores with a couple of short elbows. Boy lands a nice forearm strike. Park is looking to reverse the position. Park regains half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Boy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Park does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Park is pressing down on Boy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Boy got a little sloppy there for a moment and Park has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Boy has managed to get both his arms back between Park's legs - danger averted. Boy postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Boy working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Park's head. Boy lands a couple of decent looking shots. Boy is posturing up here but Park has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Boy tries to roll out but it's too tight and Boy has to tap! Slick submission there by Park!
