Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wanderlei Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bas Yardin!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yardin tries to clinch up.
Yardin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Johnson instigates a clinch.

Johnson manages to pull guard.
Yardin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Johnson is looking for a triangle but Yardin pushes his legs off easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Johnson is on top in guard.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Yardin defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson fails to move to back control.

Johnson has hold of Yardin's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Yardin manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Johnson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Yardin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Johnson has control of Yardin's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Yardin regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Johnson shoots for a double leg takedown but Yardin sprawls well. He's pushed Johnson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Johnson cracks Yardin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.


It looks like Bas Yardin has been cut.
Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Yardin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Nice body punch from Johnson - that landed with a thud.
Johnson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Johnson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Yardin rolls with it to try and escape but Johnson cranks on the arm and Yardin is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
