Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jeff Stoner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sert Pier! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stoner closes the distance and clinches. Pier looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Stoner breaks from the clinch.
Stoner doesn't manage to clinch there - Pier circles away.
Stoner feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Pier has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stoner can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Stoner slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Stoner lands a couple of decent looking shots. Pier has a closed guard, preventing Stoner from standing up. Pier keeping moving, preventing Stoner from controlling successfully. Stoner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Stoner passes Pier's left leg - he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pier looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Stoner decides to stand and escape the position. Stoner wants to clinch. Stoner tries to clinch but Pier moves out of range. Stoner tries to clinch there but Pier circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Stoner fails with an attempt to clinch.

It looks like Sert Pier has been cut. Pier takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Stoner clinches up against the cage. A body shot lands from Stoner.
Stoner tightens his grip and picks Pier up, before dumping him to the ground. Pier manages to land in guard. Stoner wants to stand but Pier has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Stoner wants to control from the top but Pier keeps moving. Stoner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pier, up you get!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pier takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Pier swats away the attempt to clinch by Stoner. Stoner tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Stoner decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Stoner is looking to advance position but Pier won't allow it. Pier looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Pier has one foot on Stoner's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pier doesn't succeed with the takedown and Stoner counters with a slapping leg kick. Pier misses with a takedown attempt and Stoner counters with a single leg into guard. Pier didn't expect that. Stoner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Pier on the ground. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stoner seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pier escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stoner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stoner wants to stand but Pier is controlling his posture from full guard. Pier keeping moving, preventing Stoner from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jeff Stoner dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sert Pier's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Stoner tries to close the distance and clinch but Pier swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Stoner gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Stoner decides to pull guard. Stoner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pier is one step ahead there. Stoner wants to stand and escape but Pier is having none of it. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stoner looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Pier puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Stoner controlling the position for now. Stoner has one foot on Pier's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Stoner has his takedown stuffed and Pier counters with a takedown into side control. Stoner tries to control but Pier manages to take his back. Jeff Stoner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stoner looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stoner tries to escape the position.
Pier is not going to allow Stoner to sit and survive in this position. Stoner is trying to get back to his feet but Pier has full control of the position and if anything, Stoner has just worked his way into a worse spot.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Stoner tries to roll but Pier sticks to his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sert Pier showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Sert Pier's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Stoner lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Pier circles away quickly and effectively. Stoner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Stoner is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pier! Stoner looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Pier is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Stoner gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Stoner shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Pier wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stoner gets to his feet - back to striking we go! The fight stays on the outside here - Stoner looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Pier fails with the takedown and Stoner counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Stoner stops a takedown attempt from Pier.

Stoner turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Stoner wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pier, who protects the arm well. Pier wants to get back to his feet. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pier explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Pier avoids the head kick by Stoner.
Jeff Stoner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Stoner shoots in for a double leg but Pier sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pier has his takedown stuffed and Stoner counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Jeff Stoner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sert Pier. Pier is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stoner gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Pier is trying to drag Stoner to the mat but Stoner just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Pier wants a takedown but no success here.
Pier is fighting off a takedown attempt but Stoner is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Pier to the mat. Pier regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Pier is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pier looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Pier is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Stoner wants to pass the guard but Pier is keeping the position. Pier has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Stoner should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Pier has tightened it up now! Stoner should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
