Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifton Burner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Patt Barry! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burner misses with the combination.
Barry connects with a crisp jab. Barry swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Burner is defended easily by Barry. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Barry scores with a head kick.
Barry shoots in for a double leg but Burner sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Barry tries to clinch up but Burner circles away and keeps his distance. Burner lands a glancing blow to the side of Barry's head. Burner tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Barry walks into a jab. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Burner sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Barry fails with an attempt to clinch.
Burner throws a combination. Barry tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Burner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Burner is breathing heavily. Barry tries to clinch but Burner is having none of it. Barry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barry is looking to break free of the clinch but Burner has double underhooks. Burner blocking some punches.
Barry prevents the takedown attempt.
Burner wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clifton Burner. That's going to take a lot out of him. Burner wants to break the clinch but can't.
Still in the clinch, Barry scores with a nice short uppercut. Barry lands a nice uppercut. Burner gets underhooks to prevent Barry's takedown attempt.

Barry's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Nice cross by Barry. Barry rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Burner moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Burner stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Barry. Barry fails with an attempt to clinch.

Barry drives through and clinches with Burner against the cage.
Burner is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Barry swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A frustrated look appears on Barry's face as he tries to break the clinch. Barry misses with a short punch on the inside. Barry tries to score a body lock takedown but Burner shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Barry gets underhooks to prevent Burner's takedown attempt.
Barry tries to pull guard but Burner holds him up against the cage and eventually Barry drops back down to his feet.

Burner keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Barry's efforts to push away. Burner looking for a takedown. Burner throws a punch but it's blocked by Barry. Burner has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Barry is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Burner drops down looking for an ankle pick but Barry pulls his leg out and moves away.
Burner tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Barry counters with a series of strikes. Burner will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Barry closes the distance and clinches. Barry prevents the takedown attempt.
Barry pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Burner looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Burner lands a couple of digs. Barry working a defensive guard here.
Burner will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Burner keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Barry's head. Burner chips away with some ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Barry keeping full guard, as Burner tries to pass. Burner postures up and lands a big shot to Barry's brow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clifton Burner dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Burner works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Burner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Burner wants to stand but Barry has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Barry controls Burner momentarily but Burner frees himself. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burner passes Barry's left leg - he's now in half guard. Burner is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Burner stops Barry from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Burner is nestled in close to Barry, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Burner connects with a nice short shot to Barry's temple. Burner is just content to waste time from the top position. Barry takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Burner wanted to stand there but Barry had control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Barry wants to sweep but no luck. Burner stands up from guard. Let's bang! Clifton Burner is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Barry, right into the meat.
Barry gets caught flat footed, as Burner shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Burner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Barry is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Burner throws a big right hand that misses. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Burner accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Burner walks forward, straight into a front kick from Barry. Burner lands with a straight right. Barry didn't see that one coming. The fight stays on the outside here - Burner looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Barry throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Burner keeps the fight on the outside. Clifton Burner is winning the standup battle so far. Burner looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Barry is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Barry taking some punishment here, with Burner in his half guard. Burner working over Barry with some ground and pound. Barry looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Burner prevents Barry from improving his position. Burner not landing any meaningful shots this time. Burner decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Barry ducks right into an uppercut from Burner. Barry misses with a takedown attempt and Burner counters with a straight right hand. Burner fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Burner gets a clinch. Burner tries for a takedown but Barry manages to get underhooks.

Barry tries to close the distance and clinch but Burner swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A combination from Barry does no damage. Burner closes the distance but Barry moves to the side and Barry counters with an inside leg kick. Barry shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Burner counters with a takedown into side control. Burner landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Barry is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Burner scores with punches from side control. Burner lands a few punches from side control. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Burner working the ground and pound. Barry is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Burner is controlling him well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barry gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Burner sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Barry defending well though. Barry trying to control but Burner postures up.
Clifton Burner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Barry is looking for a sweep. Burner is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Barry is trying to stand up here but Burner is controlling him well.

Burner is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Barry feints and then cracks Burner's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Burner down. Barry throws a right and a left that Burner avoids nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Burner with a lazy takedown attempt and Barry counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Burner is lucky that one didn't land flush. Burner is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Barry's half guard. Burner missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Burner postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Barry to stand up. Barry circles away from the clinch attempt.
Burner shoots in looking for a takedown. Barry tries to sprawl out of it but Burner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Barry falls off balance throwing a combination
and Burner counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Burner content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Barry working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burner. Burner gets to his feet - Barry follows without any prompting. The fight stays on the outside here - Barry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice straight punches there by Burner. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Burner. Barry changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Burner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Burner is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Barry is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Burner is trying to get back to full guard. Barry thows a huge punch but Burner dodges it nicely.

Burner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Barry. Burner tries to clinch and Barry counters with a two punch combo. Burner throws a hook but Barry avoids it easily. Burner wants to clinch but Barry slips to the side and Barry counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Barry throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Burner on the side of the head. Burner fails in his attempt to clinch. Burner throws a series of punches but Barry avoids them all with ease. Clifton Burner is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Barry swats away the attempt to clinch by Burner. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Barry. Burner shrugs it off though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Burner moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Patt Barry has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Burner avoids the head kick by Barry.
And that's the end of the fight! Clifton Burner showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Burner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
