Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nelson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nelson wants to control from the top but Yves keeps moving.

Nelson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Nelson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nelson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Nelson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Yves closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Yves lands in his opponent's guard.

Yves in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Nelson is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Nelson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yves circles away from the clinch attempt.

Yves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nelson was covering up waiting for the punch and Yves finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yves prevents Nelson from getting back to his feet.
Nelson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Nelson is looking to stand up but Yves isn't so interested in that idea.
Nelson is breathing heavily.
Yves trying to control the position from guard on top but Nelson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Yves trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Yves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nelson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Nelson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yves is one step ahead there.

Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Yves defends well.
Yves scoring with some ground and pound.

Nelson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Nelson connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Yves shoots in for a takedown but Nelson shows good takedown defense.
Nelson connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Nelson misses with an uppercut. Yves saw that one coming.
Yves tries for a takedown but Nelson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nelson thuds his right hand into Yves's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Nice takedown defense from Nelson. No joy for Yves on that attempt.
DJ Nelson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bob Yves.
Nelson jabs Yves right on the nose. Yves blinks but takes it well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Nelson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Nelson throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Nelson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Nelson tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Nelson passes the guard and advances to mount!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yves uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Nelson.
Nelson loads up on a big right hand but Yves slips the punch.
Nelson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nelson throws a jab but it's blocked by Yves.
Yves throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Yves with a poor takedown

and Nelson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Yves drops down looking for an ankle pick but Nelson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Nice uppercut lands for Nelson. That snapped Yves's head back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Yves has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Yves there as he acknowledges the shot.

Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Nelson throws some wild stikes that Yves manages to avoid easily.
Nelson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Yves can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nelson is landing with some decent strikes but Yves is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Yves holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Nelson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Yves is working to get back to half guard.

Nelson scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Nelson drops a big elbow. That's hurt Yves! More shots from Nelson and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
