Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Metz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metz shoots in for a takedown but Emelianenko shows good takedown defense. Emelianenko with a poor takedown and Metz counters with a shoot takedown. Emelianenko fights it but they end up in guard. Metz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Metz drops back looking for a leg! Emelianenko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Emelianenko manages to kick Metz off! Metz jumps back into Emelianenko's guard. Metz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Emelianenko dives on top into guard. Metz really is a fat lump. Metz looking for a guillotine here but Emelianenko defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Metz has his feet on Emelianenko's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Emelianenko misses with a takedown and Metz counters with a takedown into side control. Metz is breathing heavily. Emelianenko tries to improve position but can't. You can see the frustration on Emelianenko's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Metz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Emelianenko is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Emelianenko is trying to control Metz's posture but Metz avoids it. Emelianenko is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Metz is controlling him well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko struggling a bit here. Metz has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Emelianenko is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Metz yanks on the arm and Emelianenko is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Metz.
