Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Eddie Vedder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Murray! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Murray shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Murray sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Murray pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vedder is keeping the position for now. Murray drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Murray jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. That's one minute gone in the round. Vedder knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Murray on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Murray gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Vedder moves in looking to clinch but Murray pushes him off. Vedder tries to clinch up but Murray circles away and keeps his distance. Murray circles away from the clinch attempt.
Murray rushes Vedder and presses him up against the cage. Vedder misses with a hook from the clinch. Murray tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Murray manages to pull guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vedder accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Vedder postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Murray looking for a sweep. Not yet Murray, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Vedder would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Murray is pulling down on Vedder's head to control his posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Murray lands a couple of decent looking body shots there.
Vedder has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Murray is proving hard to escape from. Murray manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Murray looking to isolate an arm here. Vedder doesn't see it coming and as Murray extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Murray!
