Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Akiriwo Akiwama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earl Bennet! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bennet scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. An inside leg kick from Akiwama misses. Bennet throws a right hand that Akiwama ducks under and follows up with a left that Akiwama also avoids with ease. Akiwama tries to clinch up but Bennet circles away and keeps his distance. Akiwama doesn't manage to clinch there - Bennet circles away.
Akiwama wants to clinch up but Bennet keeps it at a distance. Akiwama throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Bennet cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Akiwama has his takedown stuffed and Bennet counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Akiwama! Bennet looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Bennet punching from mount but Akiwama doing a good job of avoiding damage. Bennet throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Akiwama because Bennet loaded up on that one. Bennet sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Bennet has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Akiwama blocking the ground and pound. Akiwama taking shots to the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Bennet breaks from Akiwama's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bennet postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Akiwama looks a forlorn figure.
Akiwama on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Akiwama tries to get out of the position. Bennet lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Akiwama is in a horrible position here. Bennet smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Bennet with the ground and pound from mount. Akiwama is breathing heavily. Bennet lands a big shot there that rocks Akiwama but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Bennet working away from the top, dropping strikes. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bennet postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Akiwama badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Bennet around the waist but Bennet pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Bennet is the winner by TKO! Bennet jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
