Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Steve Montenegro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cates tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Cates.
Cates wants to control but Mercuriy is keeping him busy.
Mercuriy is looking for a sweep.
Cates is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mercuriy has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mercuriy manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Mercuriy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mercuriy tries to get to full guard but Cates has control of the leg.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cates connects with a nice short shot to Mercuriy's temple.
Cates is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
It looks like Maximus Mercuriy has been cut.
Mercuriy looking for submissions off his back.
Mercuriy moves into full guard.
Mercuriy has momentary wrist control but Cates slips an elbow through the middle.
Cates makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Cates is in close to Mercuriy's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Cates with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mercuriy is looking for a triangle here but Cates uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
