The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
winstafer connects with a crisp jab.
winstafer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Novak napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Novak manages to work his way to half guard, despite winstafer's best efforts.
Novak tries to get to full guard but winstafer has control of the leg.
winstafer is taking a breather. Novak says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

winstafer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Novak looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

You can see the frustration on Novak's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Novak tries to bum rush winstafer with a series of wild strikes but winstafer uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Novak shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Novak showed some decent athleticism there.
Novak wants to lay and pray for a moment but winstafer keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Well winstafer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
