PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lud Kosiba (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Eqari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kosiba's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hammer Time. Eqari has chosen The Prodigy - Out Of Space as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Paul Eqari will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Eqari!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Eqari looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Kosiba pulls guard successfully.

Kosiba is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kosiba bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Eqari's guard.
Kosiba stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eqari swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Kosiba sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Eqari's guard.

Kosiba tries to pass the half guard into mount. Eqari knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kosiba is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Eqari defends it well.
Eqari keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Kosiba seems to be looking for submissions.
Kosiba wants to pass the guard but Eqari is defending well.

Eqari should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kosiba is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Eqari!

Kosiba has control of Eqari's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Eqari regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Eqari really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kosiba. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Eqari has eaten all the pies!
Kosiba tries to pull guard but Eqari holds him up against the cage and eventually Kosiba drops back down to his feet.
Kosiba lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Kosiba tries for a takedown but Eqari manages to get underhooks.
Eqari wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

A left hand lands to the body for Kosiba.
Kosiba keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Eqari's efforts to push away.

Eqari lands a shoulder strike.
Kosiba tries for a takedown. No joy.
Kosiba jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Eqari walks away with a smile on his face. Kosiba gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kosiba looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Eqari throws a hook but Kosiba blocks it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kosiba darts in and clinches Eqari up against the cage.

Kosiba drops down looking for an ankle pick but Eqari pulls his leg out and moves away.
Kosiba changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eqari tries to avoid it but Kosiba manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eqari to the ground. Eqari escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Eqari throws a nice looking combination but Kosiba bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Kosiba lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Kosiba will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Eqari is not content to let Kosiba control the position.
Eqari is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kosiba is controlling him well.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kosiba, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
