Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe OBrien! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Alex Cole! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - OBrien looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cole drops his hands momentarily and OBrien takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Cole bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Cole gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. He catches OBrien napping and manages to drive through into side control! OBrien on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if OBrien tries to get out of the position. OBrien takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Cole gets to mount! OBrien was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. OBrien tries to hold on but Cole postures up. Cole tries to control but OBrien wriggling away. Cole with shots to the head and body - OBrien looks very uncomfortable down there. Cole misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cole thowing shots but they're missing. Cole unloading with bombs! OBrien tries to reverse the position but Cole maintains control. Cole with a couple of short strikes. Cole postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. OBrien looks a forlorn figure.
OBrien is trying desperately to improve position. Cole has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cole looking to finish with strikes here!

That's two minutes gone in the round. OBrien in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Cole throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
OBrien is looking to get to half guard. OBrien wants to hold on but Cole pushes him away. A nice elbow there by Cole.
OBrien is rocked! Cole jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but OBrien manages to avoid the submission attempt. Oh OBrien is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cole in side control here. He's dropped a big elbow there and OBrien looks hurt! Oh, he is hurt! Cole turns on the heat and pounds him out for a TKO victory! Good killer instinct there!
