Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phil Neal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gavin Aloros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aloros has chosen Arc Arsenal by At The Drive-In as his entrance music. Phil Neal has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phil Neal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gavin Aloros!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Chad Campbell and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Neal.
Neal swats away the attempt to clinch by Aloros.
Aloros tries to close the distance and clinch up but Neal swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Neal looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Aloros fails with a takedown attempt.
Neal avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Aloros tries to score a power double leg takedown but Neal sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Aloros somewhat.

Phil Neal has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gavin Aloros.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aloros changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Neal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neal manages to work his way to half guard, despite Aloros's best efforts.
Aloros seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Neal does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Aloros wants to stand but Neal has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Aloros tries to pass the half guard into mount. Neal knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Neal on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Neal tries to get out of the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Neal displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Aloros.
Neal punishes Aloros's body with a nice straight punch.
Aloros tries to clinch up.
Neal lands a right hook to the body.
Aloros misses with a head kick.

Neal really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Neal moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Aloros takes one to the side of the head.
Aloros misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Aloros tries to close the distance and clinch but Neal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Neal fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Aloros looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Aloros looks gassed!

Neal is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Aloros's half guard.
Neal thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aloros's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neal lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Neal has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neal wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aloros keeps working.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Neal missing with a left hand there. Aloros was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Neal throws a front kick aimed at Aloros's knee but Aloros avoids it well.

Neal throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Aloros was covering up waiting for the punch and Neal finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Neal tries to free his leg and advance position but Aloros is retaining full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Neal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Neal wants to control from the top but Aloros keeps moving.
Neal throwing strikes from guard but Aloros blocks nicely.
Neal throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Aloros works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Aloros shoots in looking for a takedown. Neal tries to sprawl out of it but Aloros keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Neal manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Aloros dives in and grabs Neal's left leg, looking for a takedown. Neal pushes down on Aloros's head and hops out.
The fight stays on the outside here - Aloros looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Aloros takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Aloros rushes Neal and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Aloros tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Neal throws a head kick that Aloros semi-blocks.
Neal takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Aloros tries to clinch up.

Neal shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aloros is looking to stand up but Neal isn't so interested in that idea.

Aloros is pressed up against the cage. Neal has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Aloros down to the mat. Aloros avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Neal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Aloros circles away quickly and effectively.

Neal got a little sloppy there for a moment and Aloros has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Neal has managed to get both his arms back between Aloros's legs - danger averted.

Neal decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Neal, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
