Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jack Li (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Genay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Genay has chosen Ska-p a la mierda as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Li! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lucas Genay! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Genay tries to clinch but Li is having none of it. Genay doesn't manage to clinch there - Li circles away.
Genay shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Li but Li pushes him off and we're back to square one. Genay moves in looking to clinch but Li pushes him off. Genay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Genay lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Li avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A combination from Genay does no damage. Genay fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Genay moves in looking to clinch but Li pushes him off. Genay takes the fight into the clinch. Li wants a takedown but no success here.
Genay is pressed up against the cage. Li has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Genay down to the mat. Genay avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Li scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Li tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Li slows the pace down.
That's one minute gone in the round. Genay is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Li's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Genay wants to control but Li is keeping busy and won't allow it. Genay is trying to stand.
Li keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Li connects with a nice short shot to Genay's temple. Genay is trying to control but Li manages to pass to mount!
Genay wants to control but Li is having none of it.

Genay tries to hold on but Li pushes him away. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Li cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Li working away from the top, dropping strikes. Li avoids the attempt from Genay to control. Genay looks gassed! Li lands with some strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Li looking to control but Genay is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Genay wants to hold on but Li pushes him away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Li with the ground and pound from mount. Li tries to control but Genay wriggling away. Li lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Li tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The referee warns Genay that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Genay is desperately trying to improve his position but Li has a good base and remains in mount. Li raining down shots from the mount! Li tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Genay is in a horrible position here. Li smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Li lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Genay is in all sorts of trouble here.

Genay shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Li counters with a nice double leg into side control. Genay won't be happy with that. Genay is still in real trouble! Can Li finish him? Genay takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Genay seems to have recovered his senses. Li working away. Li lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Genay down.
Li controls the position from side control. Jack Li overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Li cracks Genay with an elbow. That is naaassty. Li scoring with punches from side control. Genay on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Genay is trying to control Li's posture but Li avoids it. Li is looking to take a break and control but Genay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Genay is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Genay takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Genay sneaks back into half guard. Li is figuring out what he wants to do next. Genay wants to control but Li is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Li looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Li has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Genay trying to control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Li stands up over Genay, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Genay is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Li controlling from the top position. Li working some strikes from top position. Genay wants to stand up but Li is controlling him. Li slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Li content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Li postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Li throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Genay works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Genay wants to sweep here but Li controlling him for the moment. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Li's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Genay keeping moving, preventing Li from controlling successfully. Li is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Jack Li just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Li lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Genay darts in trying to clinch and Li counters with a leg kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Li dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Genay closes the distance looking to clinch and Li counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Li. Li has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Genay is looking to control Li's arms but Li gets an underhook and turns him. Now Genay has his back to the cage. Li managing to block the knees to the body from Genay.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Genay obliges. Genay wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Genay takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Genay misses with a knee to the head. Genay gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Li.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jack Li. That's going to take a lot out of him. Li takes a knee right on the jaw!
That's one minute gone in the round. Li is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Genay can't fight it off and eventually Li manages to take the fight to the floor. Genay looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Li working some strikes from top position. Genay keeping full guard, as Li tries to pass. Li working some strikes from top position. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Li wants to control from the top but Genay keeps moving. Li lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Genay is looking to improve his position.
Jack Li is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Still in half guard, Li seems content to control. Li is thwarting Genay's attempts to control the position. Genay might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Li kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Li scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Li stalling. Ground and pound from Li.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Li showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Li, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
