Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas De Groote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Layne Staley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). De Groote comes to the cage accompanied by Bas' Theme. Staley comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Alice in Chains - No Excuses kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Groote tries for a takedown but Staley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A head kick misses from De Groote.
Staley misses with the combination.
De Groote is looking to land body kicks.
Staley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
De Groote fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Staley looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The fighters circle momentarily. Staley darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Staley takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

It looks like Layne Staley has been cut.
De Groote tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
De Groote has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from De Groote there as he acknowledges the shot.

Staley rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but De Groote moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

De Groote bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Staley's head backwards.

and Staley counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
De Groote is looking to slow Staley down with leg kicks.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from De Groote! Staley is out on his feet! De Groote rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Staley is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Staley is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
