Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Phillip Olsen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Lyle! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Eddie Farnsworth and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slow jab from Olsen misses its intended target. Olsen looks to land a left hand but Lyle moved out of range nicely. Lyle lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Olsen uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lyle. Lyle tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Olsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fight stays on the outside here - Olsen looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Olsen misses with a few strikes there.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Olsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lyle bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Olsen tries to buck Lyle off but Lyle is having none of it. Lyle prevents Olsen from escaping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Olsen tries to improve position but can't. Olsen parries the strikes from Lyle easily there. Lyle is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Olsen to escape.
Lyle wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Olsen, who protects the arm well. Olsen tries to improve position but can't. Olsen is not content to let Lyle control the position. Olsen is looking to reverse the position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Lyle throws a head kick that half lands.
Lyle throws a nice inside leg kick. Olsen missing with a left hand there. Lyle was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Olsen looks to land a right hand but Lyle moved out of range. A looping hook to the body misses from Olsen. Lyle does a little dance to reset his feet. Olsen displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Olsen, as that shot connected.
Olsen throws a right and a left that Lyle avoids nicely. Olsen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Olsen misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lyle.
Olsen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lyle shoots in for a takedown but Olsen shows good takedown defense. Olsen misses the jab. A telegraphed right hand from Olsen misses the target. Olsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Olsen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lyle paws at him with a jab and circles away. Olsen ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lyle moves away. Olsen wants to clinch. Lyle blocks a jab. Some wild striking there from Olsen.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Olsen throws a nice looking combination but Lyle bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Olsen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Olsen throws a series of punches but Lyle avoids them all with ease. Olsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lyle manages to avoid it. Olsen tries to clinch up. Olsen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Olsen throws a right and a left that Lyle avoids nicely. Olsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

A close round but Jon Lyle will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Olsen swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Olsen avoids the head kick by Lyle.
A combination from Olsen does no damage. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lyle is defended easily by Olsen. Olsen connects with a right hand. Lyle shakes it off. Olsen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Olsen moves in looking to clinch but Lyle pushes him off. Olsen ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Olsen throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyle needs to keep his hands up - Olsen had a free shot at his head there. Olsen throws a jab but it's blocked by Lyle. Olsen checks the leg kick. Phillip Olsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Olsen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Olsen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Lyle stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Olsen moves out of range of the leg kick from Lyle. Olsen misses with the combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyle lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Olsen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Olsen shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Lyle counters with a nice body kick.
Olsen throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Olsen chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lyle can pounce on him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lyle dodges the punch combination from Olsen.
Lyle ducks under a wild hook from Olsen. Lyle avoids the body shot from Olsen.
Lyle moves forwards but Olsen connects with a nice, crisp jab.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Olsen just misses with a punch to the body.
Lyle is looking to slow Olsen down with leg kicks. Lyle closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lyle lands in his opponent's guard. Lyle throws a strike but Olsen rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Lyle keeping moving, preventing Olsen from controlling successfully. Olsen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Lyle is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Olsen defends well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lyle tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lyle is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Olsen working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Lyle wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Olsen with a flurry of punches that miss. Olsen wants to control from the top but Lyle keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Phillip Olsen will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Lyle counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Olsen's guard now. Olsen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Olsen wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Lyle manages to pass to side control. Olsen looks like he's trying to stand up.
Olsen tries to get to full guard but Lyle has control of the leg. Olsen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Olsen works his way to full guard. Good work. Olsen looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyle wants to control from the top but Olsen keeps moving. Olsen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Olsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Olsen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Phillip Olsen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Lyle throws a head kick that misses. Olsen connects with a body shot. Lyle uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Olsen. Olsen gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lyle to score an easy takedown into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyle content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Olsen is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lyle is aware though and is defending well. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Olsen looking for a sweep. Not yet Olsen, not yet. Olsen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Lyle puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Lyle is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Lyle throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Lyle works his way into full mount! Olsen tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lyle tries to control but Olsen wriggling away. Lyle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Olsen is wriggling around trying to escape.
Olsen slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Olsen is looking for a sweep. Lyle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Lyle slips a nice elbow through Olsen's hands, connecting with Olsen's forehead. Lyle thows a huge punch but Olsen dodges it nicely.

Olsen wants to improve his position but Lyle is controlling well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lyle is looking to stall here but Olsen recovers full guard. Lyle missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Lyle wants to pass the guard but Olsen is keeping the position. Jon Lyle has got the better of the ground game so far. Olsen trying to keep a closed guard but Lyle is proving a slippery customer.
Olsen wants to get back to his feet but Lyle passes into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
And that's the end of the fight! Jon Lyle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Lyle has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
