Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leandro Paiva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Germano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eric Germano told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leandro Paiva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eric Germano! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Germano shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Germano showed some decent athleticism there. Paiva wants to improve his position but Germano is controlling well.
Paiva wants to get back to full guard but Germano has mounted him! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Paiva has given up his back. Will we see Germano going for some submissions?
Germano is looking for the choke from the back position but Paiva is controlling his hands well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Germano is hanging on to Paiva's back as he tries to escape.
Germano is trying to stick to Paiva's back but Paiva is turning into Germano. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Germano's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Paiva. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Germano working a defensive guard here.
Germano looking for a sweep. Not yet Germano, not yet. Germano keeping full guard, as Paiva tries to pass. Germano is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Paiva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Germano swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Germano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Paiva works a leg free and moves into half guard. Paiva wants to stand up but Germano is controlling the position.
Paiva seems to be looking for submissions.
Germano gets full guard. Paiva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Germano is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Germano looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Paiva trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Germano looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Germano looks gassed! Germano wants to sweep but no luck. Paiva advances position into side control! Germano stops Paiva from passing to mount. Germano is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Paiva's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Paiva tries to stand and escape but Germano is controlling the position. Paiva decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Germano shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Paiva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Paiva working for a triangle but Germano defends it easily.
Germano postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Paiva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Germano, into his guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Germano dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Germano misses with a takedown attempt - Paiva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Paiva tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Germano was well out of range. Poor timing from Paiva. Paiva scores with a decent looking hook. Paiva fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Germano shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Paiva but Paiva pushes him off and we're back to square one. Eric Germano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Germano shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Germano was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Paiva really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Paiva is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Germano has taken his back!
That's one minute gone in the round. Paiva turns into Germano and is now in his guard.
Paiva preventing the sweep. Paiva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Germano swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Paiva passes Germano's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Paiva wants to stand up but Germano is controlling the position.

Germano regains full guard. Nicely done. Paiva looking to pass the guard. Germano has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paiva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Germano is breathing heavily. Paiva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Germano swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paiva stopping the sweep attempt from Germano. Germano manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Paiva keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Paiva tries to improve his position but instead Germano has taken his back! Paiva looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Germano looking for the RNC. Paiva tries to roll but Germano sticks to his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eric Germano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
A looping hook to the body misses from Paiva. Germano does a little dance to reset his feet. Germano closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Eric Germano has got the better of the ground game so far. Paiva is looking for a sweep. Paiva is working hard here to advance position. Paiva bucks up and tries to throw Germano off but instead Germano has got his back! Germano has his arm under Paiva's chin here. Game over son! Germano squeezes tightly and Paiva is forced to tap out!
