PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lee Stroud (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Elvin Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reyes is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by D' Awassss. Reyes has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Elvin Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Franklyn Lucas and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stroud clinches.
Reyes looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Stroud manages to pull guard.

Stroud has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Reyes off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Reyes misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Reyes blocks a head kick by Stroud.
A head kick misses from Reyes.
An inside leg kick lands from Stroud.

Stroud shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Reyes's guard.
Reyes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stroud controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reyes keeping moving, preventing Stroud from controlling successfully.
Stroud slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Stroud passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Reyes tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Stroud gets to mount! Reyes was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Reyes is trying to escape the mount.
Stroud looking to finish Reyes with some ground and pound. This is bad for Reyes!
Stroud is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Reyes can't stay in a position like this for much longer.


It looks like Elvin Reyes has been cut.
Reyes working to try and regain half guard.
Stroud scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Reyes?
A nice elbow there by Stroud.
Stroud controlling his opponent.

Stroud is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Stroud works over Reyes's head and body with a nice combination.


That has opened up Elvin Reyes's cut even more.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A lazy left from Stroud finds it's target.

Stroud scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Stroud controlling the pace.

Stroud is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Stroud prevents Reyes from improving his position.
Stroud looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Stroud stands up from half guard.

Stroud closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stroud lands in his opponent's guard.

Stroud drops back looking for a leg! Reyes is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Reyes manages to kick Stroud off! Stroud jumps back into Reyes's guard.

Reyes escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Stroud gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Stroud works a leg free and moves into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stroud works his way into side control.
Reyes tries to escape but Stroud is in control.
Stroud works to advance to full mount. Reyes defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Reyes is trying to escape the mount.
Stroud controlling his opponent.
Reyes is trying to escape the mount but Stroud keeps good control and instead manages to take Reyes's back.
Stroud keeps control of the position as Reyes tries to break free.
Reyes trying to control the hands but Stroud won't let him.
Reyes is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Stroud is staying active.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reyes is keeping busy.
I really don't envy Reyes right now.

Stroud is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Reyes is tapping out! This one is all over!
