Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Viraj Mithani! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Wilson! The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mithani defends it nicely. Wilson shoots in but Mithani avoids the takedown attempt easily. Wilson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mithani pinned against the cage. Mithani gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Viraj Mithani has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Wilson. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Wilson. Wilson shoots in and bounces Mithani off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Mithani manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's one minute gone in the round. Mithani looking to control and managing it successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mithani can't control as he wanted to and Wilson manages to get the fight back to his half guard. Mithani will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Mithani is thwarting Wilson's attempts to control the position. Wilson tries to roll over but Mithani keeps him under control. Wilson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Wilson actively working from the bottom here. Wilson is looking for a sweep. Mithani is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Wilson looks for a takedown but Mithani sprawls well. Mithani throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Mithani moves in looking to clinch but Wilson pushes him off. Wilson misses with a takedown attempt - Mithani sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Wilson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Wilson looks gassed! Wilson dodges the punch combination from Mithani.
Mithani slaps away a takedown attempt from Wilson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Wilson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mithani throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wilson shoots in for a takedown but Mithani shows good takedown defense. Wilson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wilson is defended easily by Mithani. Wilson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mithani pinned against the cage. Mithani gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Mithani displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Viraj Mithani is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Wilson moves forwards but Mithani connects with a nice, crisp jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wilson closes the distance but Mithani moves to the side and Mithani counters with a left to the body. Mithani looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wilson shoots and misses and Mithani makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Mithani gets in close and instigates a clinch. Mithani breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mithani with a hook. This has been an exciting period of action! Mithani lands with a shot to the body. Wilson with a lazy takedown attempt and Mithani counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mithani. Mithani breaks from the clinch.
Mithani lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wilson circles away quickly and effectively. Mithani misses with the combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mithani circles away. Wilson tries to clinch but Mithani moves away and Mithani counters with a body kick. Mithani lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Mithani dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Mithani has managed to clinch.
Wilson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Wilson prevents Mithani from breaking the clinch. Mithani is trying to break free. Mithani has had enough of the clinch but Wilson keeps him there for the moment. Wilson looking for a takedown. Viraj Mithani has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Mithani lands a nice looking kick to the body. Wilson takes a step back to recover. Mithani goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Wilson misses with a takedown and Mithani counters with a thumping low kick. Mithani digs a good body shot into Wilson's ribs. Mithani works Wilson's body with a nice hook. Wilson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Viraj Mithani is winning the standup battle so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mithani goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Mithani lands with a nice body punch. Wilson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Wilson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mithani counters with a left and a right that stings Wilson. Mithani lands a jab. Wilson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mithani sprawls well. Mithani wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wilson gets slowly back to his feet. Mithani scores with a leg kick.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mithani takes the fight into the clinch. Mithani escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wilson takes a jab right on the kisser.
Wilson with a poor takedown and Mithani holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Mithani working hard to break the clinch. Mithani is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Mithani is looking to break free of the clinch but Wilson has double underhooks. Mithani breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Wilson closes the distance but Mithani moves to the side and Mithani counters with a right hand to the body. Wilson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mithani as he avoids it easily. Mithani cracks Wilson with a good jab.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mithani throws a nice looking combination but Wilson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wilson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Mithani counters with a straight right hand. Wilson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mithani counters with a straight right hand. Wilson takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mithani clinches with his opponent.
Mithani tries to circle away but Wilson has him pinned against the cage. Mithani's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Mithani fails with an attempt to clinch.

Viraj Mithani dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Wilson darts in trying to clinch and Mithani finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body. Wilson with a poor takedown and Mithani makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Mithani is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wilson can do to turn this around? Wilson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wilson lands in his opponent's guard. Wilson won't allow Mithani to get back to his feet. Mithani looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Mithani controls Wilson momentarily but Wilson frees himself.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mithani is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mithani is controlling Wilson's posture. Wilson is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mithani is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mithani has escaped and now he's on top! Wilson looking for a sweep. Not yet Wilson, not yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mithani tries to free his leg and advance position but Wilson is retaining full guard. Mithani seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wilson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mithani has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Mithani passes Wilson's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wilson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mithani pulls his head out easily. Mithani performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Mithani has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Wilson landing rabbit punches to the side of Mithani's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wilson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mithani is working away from the top position though. Mithani content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Mithani is keen to just control but Wilson is a slippery customer. Mithani is looking to stall here but Wilson recovers full guard.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Viraj Mithani just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Wilson shoots and misses and Mithani counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wilson thinking. Mithani scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Wilson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Mithani counters with a nice body shot. Brian Wilson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mithani moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Mithani closes the distance and clinches. Mithani can't break the clinch.
Wilson tries to work over Mithani's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Mithani is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Wilson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Mithani gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Viraj Mithani has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Wilson. Mithani wants to break the clinch but can't.
Wilson is trying to drag Mithani to the mat but Mithani just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Wilson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
And that's the end of the fight! Viraj Mithani showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mithani, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
