Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Greg Garney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pierre Gander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pierre Gander will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Greg Garney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pierre Gander! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Skip Squint and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gander shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Garney napping and manages to drive through into side control! Garney is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gander sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Garney is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Gander trying to control the action but Garney is working from the bottom. Gander in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Gander looks up at the clock and then as Garney takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gander smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Garney can't do much from the bottom here. Garney is trying to get back to half guard. Garney is working hard here to advance position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gander trying to control the action but Garney is working from the bottom. Gander wants to stand but Garney is controlling his arm. You can see the frustration on Garney's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Garney might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Garney tries for a takedown but Gander circles away easily and Gander counters with a single leg into guard. Garney didn't expect that. Garney is looking for a triangle but Gander pushes his legs off easily.
Gander stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garney fails with the takedown and Gander counters by moving into the clinch. Garney is breathing heavily. Gander has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Garney uses from the top position. Gander working a defensive guard here.
Garney is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Gander keeping full guard, as Garney tries to pass. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gander working a defensive guard here.
Garney got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gander has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Garney has managed to get both his arms back between Gander's legs - danger averted. Garney trying to control the position from guard on top but Gander is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gander doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gander looks for the body kick but Garney saw that one coming. Gander shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Gander decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. A head kick misses from Gander. Gander gets the takedown into side control. Gander wants to lay and pray for a moment but Garney keeps working. Garney manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Garney actively working from the bottom here. Garney looking for submissions off his back. Gander stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Gander shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Garney is not content to let Gander control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Pierre Gander dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Garney has his takedown stuffed and Gander counters with a big head kick but Garney shrugs it off. Gander shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gander showed some decent athleticism there. Still in half guard, Gander seems content to control. Garney makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Garney. Garney preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Gander trying to control the position from guard on top but Garney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gander passes Garney's left leg - he's now in half guard. Gander wants to take a breather but Garney is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gander prevents Garney from improving his position. Gander is trying to control the action in half guard but Garney is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Gander wants to pass to mount but Garney is defending the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Gander closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Gander lands in his opponent's guard. Garney is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Gander trying to control the position from guard on top but Garney is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garney has his foot on Gander's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gander works his way back into a safe position though. Garney keeping moving, preventing Gander from controlling successfully. Gander slips nicely into half guard. Gander prevents Garney from improving his position.

Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
