PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sylvester Hoodoo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Micheal King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sylvester Hoodoo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Micheal King!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoodoo scores with a three punch combo!
Hoodoo lands a nice looking body shot.
Hoodoo fails to land with a series of punches.
King showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoodoo.
King tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hoodoo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hoodoo looks to land a combination. King sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
A punch combination from Hoodoo misses.
Hoodoo swinging wildly here.
Hoodoo misses with a double jab.
Hoodoo goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
King shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hoodoo pinned against the cage. Hoodoo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
King lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hoodoo circles away quickly and effectively.

and King counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Hoodoo is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hoodoo, as that shot connected.
Hoodoo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hoodoo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming King to the mat! King manages to get full guard.

Hoodoo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
King is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hoodoo slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hoodoo seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down King for as long as he can get away with.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
King looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoodoo is one step ahead there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Sylvester Hoodoo.
Hoodoo throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
King takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Hoodoo throws a right and a left that King avoids nicely.
Hoodoo misses with a two punch combination.
Hoodoo misses with a double jab
and King counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Hoodoo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
Hoodoo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
King blocks a jab.
Hoodoo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and King counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Hoodoo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
King tries to roll over but Hoodoo keeps him under control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sylvester Hoodoo dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hoodoo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
King showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoodoo.
King misses with a few strikes there.
Hoodoo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

King wants to stand and escape but Hoodoo is having none of it.

Hoodoo stays in close to King's body and controls the position.
Hoodoo trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hoodoo has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
King striking off his back but it's not causing Hoodoo any problems.
Hoodoo slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

King is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

King can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hoodoo controls the pace.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hoodoo has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Hoodoo throws a right and a left that King avoids nicely.

and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and King counters with a head kick.
Hoodoo keeps the fight on the outside.
Hoodoo swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
enabling King to counter with a crisp jab.
King is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A left and a right from Hoodoo both land. Nice combination.
King dodges the punch combination from Hoodoo.

King gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now King is on top in guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hoodoo has a closed guard, preventing King from standing up.
Hoodoo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hoodoo looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but King puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
King throwing shots but Hoodoo is blocking nicely.
King not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

King has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Hoodoo works to full guard.
Micheal King has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sylvester Hoodoo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

I would just about give that final round to Micheal King.
I think Hoodoo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
